Upstate New York alt-rock band X Ambassadors have released a rerecorded version of their 2015 breakout song, “Renegades” in honor of 10 years of the song. In addition, on August 29, they will be releasing a rerecorded version of their first album “VHS.”
The rerecorded version of “Renegades” reflects the evolution of the band’s sound, including more orchestral elements, a heavy piano presence, along with small a amount of synths and a guitar solo.
X Ambassadors consists of Sam Harris on vocals and various other instruments, his brother Casey on keys, and Adam Levin on drums. Russ Flynn has also been a touring member of the band on guitar and bass since 2016. They were formed by the Harris brothers and former guitarist and bassist Noah Feldshuh in 2009 in their hometown of Ithaca, New York.
“I didn’t think much of this song at first, I’ll be honest. After I sent it off to Alex the day I wrote it, I didn’t think about it at all. But over the years as I’ve witnessed how much it’s meant to so many people, and the doors it opened for me and the band, it’s grown on me. It’s come to represent something scrappy and authentic about who I am and who we are as a band. Unconventional, in a world of our own, and uniquely us.”

Along with the new reimagining of their debut record, the band also announced a August and September tour throughout the U.S. and Canada.\
