In the video, directed by Andy Koeger and choreographed by Lady Gaga co-conspirator Ian McKenzie, the Los Angeles artist and producer turns a parking lot at night into a dancefloor.

There's a new dance groove on the horizon from MkX - and a new video for the track, as well. MkX, the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter/producer who just dropped a new single last week, has premiered a video for "MAKE U DANCE," a track inspired by the big pop spectacle and choreography of the early 2000s.

Andy Koeger directed the video with choreography by Ian McKenzie, also a performer for Lady Gaga. MkX is guided through a series of choreographed moves before meeting another. It's inspired by the more familiar scenario of a person coming out of a club at last call to find that the party has just begun.

It originated at a birthday celebration that went on even after they closed the club, MkX said. "Instead of going home, we decided to go to the parking lot," he said. "We brought some music and people came out and started dancing, and I wanted to do that on the film and we decided to do that with Koeger."

The outcome includes the sheen, kinetic, pop videos that MKX made before for his music, but still re-centres on the excitement of the night out. It also borrows from his overarching idea of pop, in which music, performance, and presentation are all assembled as facets of the same body.

"I'm glad I'm making this the most unapologetically pop song I've ever written," MkX said in a press release for the single which he co-wrote and co-produced with Brandon Colbein and Myylo. Colbein is an experienced producer who has worked with KATSEYE, ILLIT, and the Jonas Brothers and Myylo has worked with Dorian Electra and Zolita.

MkX: "I think keeping something fresh, but yet you can relate to, is always something I aim to deliver with my pop music; I try to stay away from the same old thing. That's the recipe I bring to the table with "MAKE U DANCE." I merge those elements of the dance sound of the early 2000's with some eclectic electronic production."

The new single is also receiving radio airplay. It has registered No. 44 Mediabase Dance Chart with airplay from stations like KGAY 103.1, Revolution 99.7 and Pulse 87. Former singles have gone to No. 29 on the Billboard Dance Chart, No. 25 Mediabase Dance Chart and No. 3 Apple's iTunes Electronic Chart. Three of his singles charted on Billboard Top 40 lists, according to the release.

In addition to his solo body of work, MkX also boasts an impressive catalogue of songwriting & production credits, co-writing and producing TWICE's 2019 hit single "Young & Wild" from their platinum certified No. 1 EP, YES or YES, as well as material for Kim Petras, Ayesha Erotica, 6arelyhuman, That Kid and CupcakKe.

With over 18+million streams and praises from Troye Sivan, SZA, Black Eyed Peas, and others, no one can deny his gifts. Sharing his talents in NY, NYC's Central Park Summer Stage, NYC's Troubadour, World Pride, WeHo Pride, and Toronto Pride, and opening for hundreds of artists, including Ariana Grande and Christina Perri, before he graduated from Berklee College of Music.

However, MkX's ambitions are more expansive than just writing and recording music. He also conceptualizes all of the visual presentation and multimedia material for his releases and live performances in addition to working to develop his own unique vision through the medium of his music. This aesthetic combines influences from late 90s-early 2000s pop music and electronica.

"MAKE U DANCE" is MkX translating that feeling through a music video that is grounded in movement and nostalgia, capturing the feeling of an unplanned dance party where the song came to life. As the single climbs the dance chart, this release marks another chapter in a singer-songwriter-visualist carving his territory in pop.
