Kendall Schmidt is stepping into a new chapter of his music career with the release of his latest single Good Love. Best known for his work with Big Time Rush, the Nashville based musician is taking a more personal approach with his latest release, offering listeners a glimpse into his life outside of the famous pop band.
Written and recorded out of Schmidt's home, Good Love takes a softer, stripped down approach from the usual upbeat sound he’s known for. The song tells a story of how love can change your whole outlook on life. Small frustrations that once felt overwhelming can become easier to manage when you have the right person beside you. It's this change in perspective that sits at the heart of Good Love, highlighting how the right relationship can bring out a different, more positive side of ourselves. Listen to the song here and check out the visualizer below:
Schmidt had this to share about the song:
“I really wanted to make something stripped down and simple, using Bon Iver’s earlier songs and the vocal style as inspiration. The feeling behind the song is the change in attitude you can have with “good love.” Sometimes we underestimate the weight we carry on our shoulders. We can get easily irritated and grouchy. Then, when you and your partner’s love languages match up, it’s incredible how quickly that attitude can change. In some ways, it can be unrecognizable to the person you were before.”

When listening to this song there’s one line that stood out the most, “In the comfort of your warmth I can soothe my soul”. It’s such a simple line, but it says so much about finding comfort in another person. When you pair the meaning behind the song with soft instrumentals, you get something that warms the heart. It’s the type of song that would play in the background of the big romantic scene in a movie. I'm excited to see what Schmidt will continue to produce on his solo journey.
