The metalcore veterans are back with a second single for 2025! We Came As Romans is a name that’s been popular in the genre for a while now, and has been pushing its boundaries for years. They just released “no rest for the dreamer” and played it live at Welcome to Rockville! This tune is the second they release this year, the first one being “Bad Luck” after which their upcoming tour is named.

For starters, the new single is on the heavier side compared to their last release, kicking off with a strong and fast paced climbing riff. Dave’s recognizable vocals soon take center stage on a choppy groove, and also demonstrates a wide range of vocals from higher pitched screams to lower pitched growls. The classic WCAR chorus hits right after the first verse, bringing in a sensible edge that manages to pull on the heart strings without slowing down the song’s pace in any way. The second verse leads into a breakdown where Puckett’s drumming goes into a nice & syncopated groove, and feels like a back and forth with the vocals. This breakdown leads to an extended clean section with the chorus stretched and synths towards the end, and the band somewhat lets you feel that the song will end on a soft tone, until the choppy pitch-shifted groove comes back to hammer you down one last time.
As we previously mentioned, this song is heavier than the first single they released this year, which kind of mirrors Darkbloom and Black Hole from a few years back. The band has yet to announce a new album, but seeing as this is the second single they released this year we're all looking forward to more We Came As Romans music. The band will play at a bunch of major festivals such as When We Were Young, Inkcarceration, Warped & more, which is a testament to how the band managed to stay relevant throughout the years. They are also kicking off the BAD LUCK Tour in July where they will tour through North America until August, before starting the EU+UK leg of their tour in September.
