Longtime emo revival icons Tigers Jaw started the second leg of their ‘Lost on You’ tour in Detroit with support from Bleary Eyed, and Pool Kids. The band released their newest album, ‘Lost on You’, on March 27, via Hopeless Records. This record was produced by Will Yip, who is known for his hardcore and emo production skills. This is their seventh studio album, but their first full-length release in five years, leaving fans anxious to hear their new music.
Kicking off the night was, Bleary Eyed, a Philadelphia-based shoegaze band. The band played many songs off of their latest release, ‘Easy’, they mesmerized the crowd, creating a dreamy atmosphere that tranquilized the listener into the music. Towards the end of their set, crowd surfers surged towards the stage. For most people attending the show, this was their first time seeing Bleary Eyed, and they certainly left their mark.
Moving forward with the night, Pool Kids took the stage. Hailing from Tallahassee, Florida, they are often described as a “bridge between pop rock and emo”. They are similar to bands such as Anxious, Sweet Pill, and Origami Angel. Additionally, they have recently made their 2025 Epitaph Records debut, with their album ‘Easier Said Than Done’. Playing a plethora of songs off of their new album, they excited the crowd, easily convincing the crowd to get off of their feet and move. The crowd continued dancing and crowd surfing until the last note thrummed through the venue.
Finally, the lights dimmed and the soft notes of ‘It’s ok’ echoed through the venue. The crowd whooped in excitement as the band walked onto stage. As their set progressed, they seamlessly transitioned into cult classic songs such as ‘Nervous Kids’ and ‘Between Your Band and the Other Band’ (one of their most infamous songs). As the first chord of ‘Between Your Band and the Other Band’ ripped through the venue, the crowd instantly scrambled into a frenzy of crowdsurfers, banging heads, and the opening of a push pit. Fans shouted the lyrics at the tops of their lungs as energy spread throughout the venue. As the night went on, they played many other fan-favorites such as, ‘June’, ‘New Detroit’, and finally ending the night with ‘Plane vs Tank vs Submarine’, and ‘Chemicals’. As the songs off of their infamous 2008 album, ‘Tigers Jaw’, played through the venue, the crowd gave it their all to end the night. Ending the night with title track, ‘Lost on You’, Tigers Jaw gave a performance that Detroit would not forget.
