MOTIONLESS IN WHITE LEAVE THEIR MARK ON MICHIGAN FOR 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TOUR
In support of the twenty-year anniversary of being a band, metalcore icons Motionless in White embarked on a North American tour for their newest album, ‘Decades’. Throughout this tour, they took support from Lorna Shore, Fit For a King, and Static Dress.
Starting the night out strong, Static Dress took over the stage with a commanding presence. Being a relatively new band, Static Dress has been making waves in the metal scene, especially with the release of their most recent full-length album, ‘Injury Episode’. They are a unique mix between post-hardcore, emo, and screamo elements, that make both an interesting listen and an entertaining performance.
Following the set, Texas metalcore outfit Fit For a King set the tone for the night, opening with their hit song, ‘Backbreaker’. This song features elements of both classic metalcore and deathcore. Additionally, they have had four Top 10 releases on Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums chart. Additionally, they released their newest single, ‘Blood Pact’. Overall they had an energetic performance, adequately setting the tone for the rest of the night.
Next up was one of metal’s most buzzing bands, Lorna Shore. After blowing up from 2021’s track, ‘To the Hellfire’, most people know who Lorna Shore is. As the lights dimmed, the cathartic notes of ‘To the Hellfire’, echoed throughout the venue. Breaking the trance the audience was encapsulated in, Will Ramos’ signature growls riveted throughout the Michigan Lottery Amphitheater, sending the crowd into a frenzy. With the release of their recent album, ‘I Feel the Everblack Festering Within Me’, they performed several songs off of it, including ‘Unbreakable’, ‘Oblivion’, ‘War Machine’ , ‘Glenwood’, and closing their set out with ‘Prison of Flesh’. Additionally, the production for their set was immensely high quality, and added so much to their performance.
Headlining the stage, Motionless in White finally emerged into the stage. Excitement buzzed in the air as their EDM intro with cat themed visuals played throughout the venue. Finally, the crowd roared as the opening notes of ‘Sign of Life’ rang through. The female dance group, The Cherry Bombs entered the stage wearing their cyber inspired outfits, wielding spark machines. Their presence adds so much energy to the show, as not many metal bands have dancers with them on stage. As the set progressed, they would have speedy outfit changes, such as circus inspired attire for the performance of ‘America’.
Furthermore, the band brought supporting musicians, such as Will Ramos, Ryan Kirby, and Static Dress on stage, performing Immaculate Misconception, Slaughterhouse, and Abigail. Additionally, they played ‘America’, which has been absent from their setlist for quite some time! Throughout their set, they also played many new tracks off of their most recent album, ‘Decades’, such as ‘Playing God’, ‘Afraid of the Dark’, ‘Sunglasses at Night’, and ‘RIP’. This excited many diehard fans to hear them playing songs off of both their early and new albums, as it has been four years since the release of their prior album, ‘Scoring The End Of The World’. Closing the night out with their iconic track, ‘Eternally Yours’, vocalist Chris Motionless’ entrancing voice echoed over the amphitheater.
All in all, Motionless in White had a phenomenal performance, and had an immensely successful Leg One of their tour. Fans are excited to see what lies ahead for the career of the band in regards to new music, and new tours!
