January 7th will forever be a day that sticks with so many. But, even in the darkest of times people still band together and offer what help they can, and that includes many in the entertainment industry.
The Weeknd, ( born Abel Tesfaye ) has stepped up to the challenge in a huge way.
Not only has he postponed the release of his newest album “Hurry Up Tomorrow”, but he also has donated $1 million dollars to the LAFD Foundation as well as GoFundMe's Wildfire Relief Fund, and the LA Regional Food Bank in order to help support the brave firefighters and those displaced and in need of help.
No stranger to helping those in need, Abel has partnered his own XO Humanitarian Fund as well as teamed up with World Food Program USA in the efforts.
The Canadian born artist now calls L.A. home and credits the city as a huge inspiration for him as an artist, has stepped up to the plate in a huge way.
His album release party concert was set to happen at Pasadena's Rose Bowl, but out of respect he had chosen to cancel stating that he prioritizes the well being of those affected above everything.
He's released this statement on his social media. “Out of respect and concern for the people of Los Angeles County, i am canceling the Rose Bowl concert originally scheduled for January 25th,” he also added “The city has always been a profound source of inspiration for me, and my thoughts are with everyone impacted during this difficult time. My focus remains on supporting the recovery of these communities and aiding its incredible people as they rebuild.”
There are no plans to reschedule the concert at this time, however "Hurry Up Tomorrow" will debut next week on January 31st.
