On October 25th, The Used frontman Bert McCracken took on a new genre of music with the release of his debut self-titled full length record under his solo project, robbietheused. As the frontman of one of the most iconic pop-punk bands, this pop record is new territory for robbie, but also shows how he is unafraid to experiment with different sounds and redefine himself as an artist. Because of this, “robbietheused” will appeal to older fans and newer fans alike. Listen to the new album via Big Noise Records HERE.
After the success of singles “The Feels” and “Terrible”, robbie continued to utilize his love of pop and combine that with his signature style, creating a record very personal and unique to him as a musician. robbie started working on the album back during the COVID-19 pandemic, finding himself stuck since he was unable to travel from his home in Australia. Always finding solace in writing music, these songs were a result of him wanting to express the emotions he was feeling at the time, helping his mental health.
Sharing his excitement about the release, robbie has said: “Finally! I put my heart and soul into this record and to see it coming out is a dream come true. Thank you for all the love and the support, it means so much more than you’ll ever know."

Producer John Feldmann, a longtime friend and collaborator of robbie, was brought in to work on the project. Their decades-long friendship allowed them to be the perfect collaborators to experiment with such a different genre and explore more adventurous sounds, such as heavy bass undertones and effects and vocoders. They worked tirelessly in the studio every week, recording one song everyday. This approach also allowed robbie to be more open with his mental health on the record.
“In the morning, we’d talk about how we're feeling and what's on our minds on that day,” robbietheused explains. “And ask, ‘How's the mental health? How's the vibes?’ And then we’d formulate a song around that. It was almost like a therapy session, where I’d really get to talk about anything that's on my mind, and then make a song about it.”
robbietheused will be embarking on a limited, 5 stop tour this fall celebrating the release of the new album, starting October 30th in Anaheim, CA. Get tickets HERE.
