2025 is bound to be the year of Jane Remover.
At the beginning of January, the Chicago-based artist started the year strong with ‘JRJRJR’, a rugged hyerpop track and the first single off their forthcoming album Revengeseekerz. Following that, under the pseudonym ‘venturing,’ Remover released Ghostholding, an album that continued the indie rock and shoegaze sound of their 2023 Census Designated project.
Remover is again hitting the scene with their newest single ‘Dancing with your eyes closed’. As to be guessed from the title, the song aligns with being a dance track. From its club-like beat and higher-pitched synths, I could easily imagine ‘Dancing with your eyes closed’ making its way onto the USBs of DJs everywhere.

As ‘Dancing with your eyes closed’ plays into Remover's familiarity and roots within the EDM, Hyperpop, and Digicore scenes, it does not feel like a recycled concept. There’s a sense of experimentation and maturity with the production style, blending elements of Remover’s older projects- such as sampling their former producer tag “This song is fucking garbage, quit music forever”- with fresh concepts, creating something idiosyncratic to Remover.
Even with only having two singles of Revengeseekerz so far, listeners get a sense of the diversity Remover has to offer as an artist. Where ‘JRJRJR’ feels grounded, heavier, and a track that was made to be a listening experience, ‘Dancing with your eyes closed’ gives the impression that alongside listening, there is a physical experience to be had as well. When listening to ‘Dancing with your eyes closed’ there’s this pull to dance, to jump, and to overall be present in a dimly lit venue surrounded by sweaty bodies and strobe lights, while the track blares over the massive speakers.
[ WARNING STROBE LIGHTS ]
The music video to accompany ‘Dancing with your eyes closed’ ties into the idea of having that physical experience. Viewers are placed into the middle of this warehouse party packed to the brim with people. In the middle of the room, on a mattress in a classy pair of pyjamas stands Jane Remover, who of course is busy performing their newest hit. The strobe lights and quick camera shots keep the watcher deeply engaged as they try to catch every moment, like the cameo from underscores, an artist and friend of Remover. To contrast the rhythm of the club, there are slower solo shots of Remover in various outdoor locations weaved between.
The entire video was Co-directed by Remover themselves and Noah Sellers. Both directors seemed excited about the release of the video and now we know that was for good reason. You can now watch the 'Dancing with your eyes closed' music video on YouTube through the link above.
