Alternative rock band The Comfort have been quiet… a little too quiet. They have had time to sit and write new music, and now it is all coming to light. On June 6th, the Brisbane-based band released their latest single, “Down (How Many Times Can I Lose Everything) and you can watch the music video here!
In the music video, the band performs the song behind a background of yellow, smiley face balloons. There is a white wall background behind the balloons and the band is performing on a red rug. As the song continues, there are cartoon images of smiley faces and balloons that appear on the screen.
Throughout The Comfort’s career as a band, they have never shied away from being open and honest with their lyrics. "As the opening chapter of what is going to be a big year for us, this song sets the tone," tells the band. "It's brutally honest, emotionally heavy, and painfully human. It asks, How many times can I lose everything before I finally let go? A question that shaped our new music, and one we’ve all felt in different forms. This is where the healing starts: in the wreckage."
Their latest song reminds fans of what originally drew them to their music. While they have made softer songs in the past, “Down (How Many Times Can I Lose Everything)” brings The Comfort back to their heavy roots. This is a song that all fans, both new and old, can enjoy. It is a great compliment to their 2024 single, “The Weight of the World”. If this is just the start of the new era for The Comfort, I cannot wait to see what they do next.
