SANGUISUGABOGG TEARS UP DETROIT

ree

Sanguisugabogg tore up Saint Andrew’s Hall on November 4th, 2025, delivering fans a brutal performance for the first night of the tour.  Additionally, Everybody Dies, Corpse Pile, Defeated Sanity, and Despised Icon will be supporting them. This tour is in celebration of their new album, ‘Hideous Aftermath’, which has 10 tracks, including vocal features from bands such as PeelingFlesh, Defeated Sanity, Full of Hell, Cattle Decapitation, and Todd Jones of Nails

Unfortunately while on the way to this show, I was stuck in the traffic of Detroit, so by the time I arrived at the venue, Everybody Dies was just finishing their set. From the short amount of time I saw their set, I could see the raw intensity they bring to the genre of metal. This only proved to me why they were selected for this tour.

Moving seamlessly into Corpse Pile, this was truly a standout act for me. Blending genres of brutal death metal and hardcore, this band hailing from Texas, channeled their aggressive chaos throughout their set. Their performance was truly outstanding, and left me to dive into their discography. Furthermore, they played songs throughout their set off of their new EP, ‘In The Beginning’, a truly enthralling EP in my utmost opinion.

Moving into Defeated Sanity, these technical death metal kings displayed their surgical precision they use to tackle their complex musicianship. Their set proved why they are such a large name within the technical death metal community. Not to mention, speaking to them after their set, they also seemed like wonderful people!

The energy carried over into Despised Icon’s set, which proved why they are such a legendary band in deathcore. Their dual-vocalist attack cranks the intensity of their performance, leaving the crowd to feel like they are too powerful for the stage. On top of that, they proved how they are still legends of deathcore, even after being in the scene since 2005! Moreover, this was my first time seeing Despised Icon, and as an avid deathcore fan, I was immensely blown away by their performance. I will most certainly be awaiting their next tour date!

Bringing the night to its violent peak, Sanguisugabogg took the stage. The dark atmosphere of the stage set the tone of what the crowd was about to experience. The stage consisted of stakes with heads covered in gore, and a maimed body behind the drum-kit—a representative of the band's vibe. They played many of their popular songs such as, ‘A Lesson in Savagery’ (along with an infamous game of murder football!!), ‘Face Ripped Off’, ‘Mortal Abdonishment’, ‘Dragged By a Truck’, and ‘Dead as Shit’. For the majority of their set, they played songs off of their new album, ‘Hideous Aftermath’. Furthermore, prior to the set, I was able to meet their vocalist, which has been a bucket list moment for me!

Overall, this concert was a great experience, not only to shoot, but to also attend. It had an absolutely stacked lineup with bands that brought all of their raw energy, each bringing something different to the table. It also proved that the new wave of death metal is alive and thriving. This only makes me more excited to see what these bands have planned for the future.
