RADIAN: Akron, Ohio Sludge Metal Crew Formed By Rue, Fistula, Sofa King Killer Alumni Launches Spring 2025 Tour As Third LP Nears Completion

This week, the sludge metal band RADIAN from Akron, Ohio continues the spring 2025 leg of their tour. Fort Wayne, Indiana will host the main tour launch on Friday, which will continue until the end of the month. During this time, they will cover a significant portion of the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions with a solo performance slated for June. As Legalize Lex Fest was one of the shows RADIAN performed at in April, a trio of these performances will make up the tour as well. Currently confirmed dates are listed below, although more shows are expected to be announced in the coming months.

Led by guitarist Mike Burns (ex-Rue, Fistula, Sofa King Killer), RADIAN emerged in the winter of 2017. The band’s first album, “Chapters,” was hailed by The Obelisk for its “hint of aggression” classically embedded in sludge metal as described by the reviewer “the most satisfying.” RADIAN independently released their debut LP in 2019. As a result, the band industry response surged throughout the midwest.

This momentum culminated in the writing and release of their often grind-driven sophomore album, Discordian, which was published under Burns’ own El Burno Records in December 2021. The ceaseless touring and shows for Discordian brought some growth and chaos at the same time, resulting in several lineup changes. By fall 2022, drummer Derek Vaive of Omnnus was onboard, and then vocalist Corey Staley from A Damn Shame joined, completing the new lineup in Fall 2024. Having now a renewed sense of purpose coupled with fresh material, RADIAN is once again planning a 2025 tour starting in Spring, to pummel audiences with their sludgy doom style.

As the album draws nearer to its release in the coming months, RADIAN recalls hitting the studio to finish touches on their third LP. Stay tuned for more news.
