October 7, 2025, marks the publication of OZZY OSBOURNE’s second and final autobiography, LAST RITES (Grand Central Publishing). Finished just days before the legendary artist’s untimely passing in July 2025, the memoir chronicles the extraordinary final years of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Grammy® Award-winning singer-songwriter, and one of rock’s most enduring figures.
LAST RITES is a brutally honest, darkly funny, and deeply moving portrait of OZZY’s life and legacy. Chronicling his descent into darkness and his hard-fought return to the stage, the book revisits key moments in his storied career — from his decades-long marriage to Sharon Osbourne, to the triumphant “Back to the Beginning” concert that reunited him with his Black Sabbath bandmates and friends for one final, globally streamed performance.
Equal parts shocking and uplifting, LAST RITES cements OZZY’s transformation from “The Prince of Darkness” into a modern-day folk hero — one whose humor, heart, and humanity continue to inspire millions worldwide.
Born in Birmingham, England, in 1948, OZZY OSBOURNE defined heavy metal as the frontman of Black Sabbath before launching one of the most successful solo careers in rock history. With over 100 million albums sold, multiple Grammy Awards, and two Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions, OZZY remains one of the most influential and beloved figures in music.
He is also a New York Times and Sunday Times bestselling author, following his acclaimed books I Am Ozzy (2010) and Trust Me, I’m Dr. Ozzy: Advice From Rock’s Ultimate Survivor (2011).
At 69, OZZY embarked on what was meant to be a triumphant farewell tour, performing to sold-out arenas around the world. But a sudden illness and a near-paralyzing spinal injury forced him to step away from the stage — and toward deep reflection.
In his final years, OZZY found new meaning in slowing down, rediscovering gratitude, and reconnecting with his fans. LAST RITES captures that hard-won peace and the enduring fire that defined his life.

JACK OSBOURNE ON LAST RITES
“My father had been working on Last Rites for several years — chipping away at it piece by piece,” says JACK OSBOURNE. “He always felt there was more to tell after I Am Ozzy — from life after the TV show, to the Black Sabbath reunion, to his health battles. It was important to him to capture it all.”
Jack recalls that the last chapter holds particular meaning: “He finished it just days before he passed. Those pages say everything about where he was — reflective, grateful, and still funny as hell.”
Despite his public persona, OZZY approached his writing with quiet humility.“He was private about the process,” Jack adds. “He honestly didn’t think anyone would care what he had to say — which is wild, because his words meant everything to people.”
Above all, LAST RITES is a love letter to OZZY’s fans.“He fought harder than anyone knew to play that final show in Birmingham,” Jack shares. “He was determined to say goodbye on his own terms. He loved his fans deeply — they gave him the life he had.”
Jack believes his father’s wish for readers is simple:“He’d want people to smile, laugh, and feel love when they read it. Don’t cry for him — celebrate him. Feel his energy. Remember who he was — and who he’ll always be.”
LAST RITES marks the final chapter in his extraordinary story — a testament to his unbreakable spirit, wicked sense of humor, and undying connection with fans around the world.
