Upcoming hardcore powerhouse Orthodox recently released a brutal new single, “Searching for a Pulse”, which is the newest track from their upcoming fourth studio album A Door Left Open, releasing on June 6 via Century Media. Preorder the album HERE and watch the music video for “Searching for a Pulse” below, or stream the track HERE.

With A Door Left Open, Orthodox tackles the inner fears and unease that people may feel when their sense of comfort is suddenly disturbed. The horror-themed music video for “Searching for a Pulse” captures the feeling of dread when an unknown force upturns their life, symbolizing this with a man being hunted and trapped by a demon who then steals his lifeforce. This feeling of helplessness and idea of time running out is a major theme of the track, emphasized with intense riffs and powerful screams. With these musical choices, the audience can easily empathize with the narrator’s plight, who is stuck in a dangerous situation with no way out.

About the inspiration behind the track, vocalist Adam Easterling explains: “This is about a reoccurring dream I would get every time we left for tour that my house was burning down and I couldn’t make it home in time to save it. I tried to write something that encapsulates an overall fear and eventual submission to being powerless."

A Door Left Open will be Orthodox’s most ambitious work yet, capturing a sense of danger and unease throughout the album with brutal riffs, intense breakdowns, intricate solos, and diverse vocals from Adam Easterling. The album will also feature guest vocals from Comeback Kid’s Andrew Neufeld, Boundaries’ Matt McDougal, and Mastodon’s Brann Dailor. A Door Left Open will be a must-listen for all metal and hardcore fans, and will certainly cement Orthodox as an upcoming household name in the scene.
