Nashville-based metalcore band Orthodox are getting ready to release their fifth full length album, A Door Left Open on June 6th. In anticipation of their release, Orthodox has released their fourth single, “Keep Your Blessings” off the upcoming album. You can check out the music video for the song here!

The video is not only a music video, but it is also a short film. The video opens with the FBI breaking down the door. It then pans to two small boys fighting in the woods. One of them pushes the other over and he is no longer moving. The other boy runs to grab a camera and takes a photo of the lifeless boy. It then pans over to a man in a car. Another man knocks on his window and he holds a gun to his head. There are a collection of photos that are shown throughout the video, and as it nears the end, an older gentleman is seen staring into the back of the car that is hidden inside a barn. Inside, there are all the photos from before, including articles of clothing. The man opens the back of the trunk and takes a photo of a lifeless girl sitting in the back. As the flash shutters, we see all three versions of this man taking photos. The FBI breaks open the door to the barn, a callback to the beginning of the video, and the man runs off.

This song is the epitome of “fight in the parking lot” music. I don’t mosh, but this song makes me want to get in the pit and start swinging, but respectfully and in the best way possible. This song has distinct hardcore vibes and that’s not a bad thing by any means. This is a great fourth single, and hopefully the last, before the album drops on June 6th.

When asked about the song, drummer Mike White stated “Keep Your Blessings' has been one of my favorites since beginning the demo process for ‘A Door Left Open’. The song has a lot of interesting elements that really complement the video itself. The video grew from an early cover art concept: a car full of photos and things stolen from homes. This quickly evolved into a full story of a man who has lost the ability to do what he loves most due to old age. Errick Easterday was thankfully super interested in the concept and it evolved from there.”

Orthodox will be embarking on a U.S. tour to celebrate the album, beginning on June 21st. Check here to grab tickets for a show near you!
