Need a pick-me-up? This is the band for you

I first learned about Badflower on Shiprocked in 2023. Joey Morrow was a member of the Stowaways, an act on the boat that features a house band and several members other bands some on the cruise, some not, that perform covers together. Badflower does’t fall in l line with many of the bands I currently listen to  and as I’m writing this I can’t really categorize what genre they fall in.  I would describe them as alternative hard rock. When the full band appeared on Shiprocked 2024, it became one of my favorite live performances. The band puts on a super high energy show that falls in line with pretty much any rock festival. Pretty soon “Stalker” popped into my and pretty much never left.

My favorite thing about this band is their sense of humor. It adds a little something special to their writing. In addition to being funny, their songs have a more uplifting feel than a lot of the metal bands I listen to despite the fact that “Detroit” is on the sadder side for them. Even in referencing the darker sides of fame, they still put a smile on my face.  Their creativity is also really refreshing. The bands recent chart-topping single “Detroit”, out on July 26th of this year,  features behind the scenes clips of the band and some audience vocals from the band’s actual performance. This track follows an re-release of the band’s album “This is How the World Ends” containing commentary of each individual song.  Badflower is one of those bands that can be that catchy song you dance to reminicscent of Foster The People one minute, and more life Nothing More the next. It’s the best recipe for dealing with all those fun relationship issues that always seem to pop up. One thing I know for sure, is that the bands the make a concerted effort to connect with the fans are the ones that stick around. It’s nice to know a band is doing that in a way other than Tik Tok.

Since the release of “Detroit”, the band put out another single on October 25th 2024. “Haunting You” is another incredibly catchy track featuring screams in a very different way than I’m used to. These guys are ear worm experts and I have no doubt they’ll put out a ton more chart-toppers. The band just finished a North American tour and unfortunately only have 2 shows coming up.
