King 810 truly unleashed the epitome of what a metal concert should be on November 1st at The Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac, Michigan, in support of their Samhain event. This show was quite literally everything a metal show should be. Every single set roared with energy and entertainment thanks to the absolutely stacked lineup.
Starting the night out, Detroit local hardcore band Nuff Said brought the energy to The Crofoot. They had an undeniable stage presence and have proved to be a band to keep on your radar. The band instantly kicked the show off with loads of energy, prepping the crowd for what lay ahead.
Cult Therapy was next on the lineup. Undeniably, this band will soon be very big. Although they did not blend in with the deathcore/hardcore vibe of many of the other bands on the bill, this experimental rock band out of Flint, Michigan, made their mark upon the crowd. Cult Therapy performed music off of their new album, ‘Get Fucked, Sinner!’, which dives into the intense religious trauma the frontman of the band has withstood. Their set was absolutely enthralling, and has me listening to their album on repeat (as I write this!).
As the set progressed, Tallah took the stage, with a brutal presence. Their set was interwoven with their fast-paced songs, feeding the crowd’s energy with their dark intensity. They delivered an incredibly energetic show leaving fans ravenous for more. They performed songs off of their new album, ‘Primeval: Obsession / Detachment’, which was released this year. In addition to their new album, they have also released an acoustic Audiotree album, having music for fans of all genres.

Transitioning seamlessly into the next set, Filth, took the stage with immediate impact. The set consisted of loud, pummeling riffs and fast paced drums– a signature deathcore sound. As one could imagine, this band hailing from North Carolina flipped the venue upside down. At the height of their set, crowdsurfers flew, and the mosh pit ravaged.
Shifting gears to Emmure, a household name within the metal community, the band filled the venue with an insane amount of energy. They performed a variety of songs off of both new and old albums. The crowd reaction was instant when they played cult-classic tracks such as, ‘When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong’, ‘10 Signs You Should Leave’, and ‘Solar Flare Homicide’. Emmure has been a bucket list band for me, so having the opportunity to shoot this band was truly incredible. Their stage presence was relentless, and leaves me hungry for the next time they come to town.
Wrapping up the night, King 810 gave the crowd what they came for. As someone who came into this venue blind to how their concerts tend to be, I was shocked by how incredible they are live. Starting the set off, a cloth-covered entity appeared on stage, alerting us of the performance about to take place. Seconds later, we see lead singer David Gunn, being wheeled out Hannibal Lecter-style (if you get it, you get it). As the show progressed, it was apparent that King 810 had incredible showmanship. Throughout the entire set, I had a smile on my face, anticipating what was coming next. Out of all of the concerts I’ve attended, this was certainly the most entertaining.
Overall, this event had an absolutely memorable lineup, and reigns one of my favorite shows I have attended. Every band that played that night contributed to the raw energy we all felt through the energy that night. Every band that night left an impression on me, leaving me to dive into their discography in hopes to relive their set.
