New England-based band Wind Walkers have slowly been leading up to a big release. They have released two singles already this year, “Eating My Heart Out” and “The End Aesthetic". On August 8th, the band released their third single, “Silk & Static”. You can also watch the music video for the new song here! With the release of this single, the band has also shared their forthcoming EP, I Don’t Belong Here, which will be out on October 3rd.
Just like the rest of the themes for the singles and the EP, the video is all in black and white. It shows the band performing the song in what looks like a bar area, with some funky camera work.
When asked about the single, vocalist Trevor Borg stated, "Writing "Silk & Static" was like staring into a mirror and unpacking every frustrating thing about myself. It came from a place of not understanding why my mind felt so chaotic all the time and why I kept getting in my own way. After recently being diagnosed with ADHD, the pieces started falling into place, and it shed a different light on the song. It was very eye-opening in the fact that I wasn't alone, and that this kind of internal noise or “static” is something others live with too. At its core, I wrote this song to offer comfort to people who can relate to feeling overwhelmed and misunderstood, while trying to make sense of themselves."
I wish this single came out earlier, because this honestly could be the song of the summer. It starts off with some electronic beats, giving a fun, dancey vibe. When the lyrics kick in, the song sounds more like a typical metalcore song. Although the lyrics are dark, the vibes are still high with the instrumentals.
Each single that has come off of this EP has leveled up, and I cannot wait to see the other three songs the band has in store come October.
