After devastating floods tore through the Texas hill country in early July, country music legend George Strait and the Vaqueros del Mar foundation held their “Strait to the Heart” charity dinner and concert to raise money for recovery efforts on July 27. The event raised $6.25 million for flood relief and drew in 1,200 attendees.
Strait founded Vaqueros del Mar with businessman Tom Cusick as a property development group, but has since hosted annual events to raise money for veterans and disaster recovery.
Along with Strait, other artists that performed included Kyle Park, William Beckmann, Hudson Westbrook and Ray Benson. It also included a prayer led by Pastor Max Lucado and an appearance from Texas governor Greg Abbott.

The event also included a silent auction to boost funds even more. Donations can be made to the foundation HERE and the money will go to established recovery efforts in the Texas Hill Country.
