DeathbyRomy is an artist you may be familiar with in passing, with her song ‘Problems’ being on most playlists from the 2019-2020 era. She’s been rising ever since, being an opener for Pierce The Veil and The Used in 2023, Set It Off in 2024, and working her way up the Festival Bills. Now, DeathbyRomy is ready to take over the industry with her new album Hollywood Forever. The album blends together influences of pop, rock, and trap into something Romy credits in her Instagram bio as “Dirty Heavy Pop”.
Romy credits the album as being a both a “Reckoning and a Celebration” with Hollywood Forever being her love letter to LA. From the singles already released- ‘’XXXHIBITIONIST’, ‘BITCHFAMOUS’, and now ‘LA LA LAND’, we’re given a taste of this stripped-down version of LA, one that removes the glamorous facade of the city. Instead, we’re introduced to this brutal “Dog Eat Dog World”, one that has been infected with the draining LA ‘culture’ that musicians and actors are exposed to. Although LA houses the biggest entertainment industries, Romy reflects that the fame attitude infests a lot of the interactions she has with people, being reduced to her value as a commodity.
However, the album is not only about LA’s lows, but its highs as well, showing the contradictions of the inspiring beauty, but brutal pain of Los Angeles. Hollywood Forever is set to release on April 25th, 2025, and will include features from WARGASM and bodyimage, Palaye Royale, and DeathbyRomys very own “Team Death”, consisting of Romy’s close friends and touring band members Jayden Hammer and EarthtoCheska, who are musicians in their own respects.

On Friday, February 7th, DeathbyRomy released ‘LA LA LAND’, the third single off her upcoming project. Lyrically, it focuses on the social aspects of LA, both with trying to create a name for yourself that is memorable, and also what happens once you’ve gained a fraction of fame. Within the main chorus, Romy repeats “It’s a Dog Eat Dog world, God Eat God World”. The initial phrase, “Dog at Dog” aligns with something used within regular industries, the average person fighting for an average job. “God Eat God” on the other hand can align and be used exclusively with only those who can be viewed as Gods- like the celebrities within LA. It shows this endless circle, one that doesn’t just end once you’ve broken mainstream popularity, the fight to be famous in LA is continuous.
Musically, ‘LA LA Land’ bridges into a heavy dance sound that Romy has said is intertwined throughout the whole album. It’s dark, gritty, and feels faster-paced in comparison to the other singles released thus far. The music video to accompany ‘LA LA Land’ sticks with similar themes, as we follow Romy plays a hitchhiker who winds up at a packed, club-esc house party. Throughout the night, we watch her interact with the party, seemingly being another unnoticed body until she approaches the bar, and gets eyed by a recurring character Romy calls “The Manager”. After this interaction, she spends the rest of the night in a hazy, dizzy state, before eventually “spitting out” her guts on top of the camera for the final shot.
