In a wild new collab, post-hardcore band Dance Gavin Dance have teamed up with funk music legend George Clinton of Parliament-Funkadelic for a chaotic new song and video, “Space Cow Initiation Ritual.” The music video for the song can be watched HERE.
It is the fourth single off the band’s upcoming new record “Pantheon,” which will come out on September 12 via Rise Records, their eleventh full-length album.
The song begins with a mellow buildup before the hook from Clinton, a funky groove signaling the fun nature of the song. The chorus hits after that, the high point of the song, and really ties the song together with the video.
The music video for the song starts off in live action, portraying clean vocalist and guitarist Andrew Wells as an overworked businessman who in desperation to relieve his stress, takes some gummies. As he leaves the office he begins a wild trip that turns the world into animation and starts off with an appearance by Clinton. The trip persists throughout the rest of the video until the very end when he snaps back to reality, confused about what just happened.
Dance Gavin Dance is currently made up of Wells, guitarist Will Swan, unclean vocalist Jon Mess, and drummer Matthew Mingus, and was formed in 2005 in Sacramento, California. George Clinton is the mastermind behind the 70’s funk bands Parliament and Funkadelic, and eventually combining the two into the collective mashup Parliament-Funkadelic.

Dance Gavin Dance will be among the bands on the E.N.D. Cruise starting in Miami, Florida, and going to Costa Maya, Mexico, on January 22-26, 2026. They will be joined by bands such as Underoath, The Used, August Burns Red, and more.
