Let's get this straight. His name is pronounced “baby-no-money”; and he is the internet's It Boy.
bbno$, or Alexander Gumuchian, is a Canadian Rapper from Vancouver, Canada. If you’re wondering where you may know his voice from, he made that melody he wishes everyone would forget (‘LaLaLa’), ‘edamame’, a track that blew up first on TikTok and now is featured in movies in commercials, and he's done plenty of “Baby Gravy” collaborations (‘Whip A Tesla’ and ‘C’est La Vie’) with fellow rapper and country star Yung Gravy.
If this is your first introduction to bbno$, you may just have entered during the perfect era, as he is at the peak of his career. Since the spring of last year he's been on a run of strictly hits, releasing ‘it boy’ in May 2024, followed by ‘two’ in October 2024, and ‘check’ in February 2025. This past Friday, bbno$ added another hit to his discography, ‘antidepressants’. It's a club-based track that is an ode to the medication the rapper openly started three months ago, discussing it in Interviews and within his Instagram community channel.
‘antidepressants’ is a song that's about “feeling good today” with bbno$ highlighting all the differen't way's he's “the shit”. The track follows this perfect combination of an exceptionally well produced base (courtesy of dwilly) and these comical lyrics with a strong flow. When it's all put together, bbno$ creates this overall fun and enthusiastic atmosphere. Alongside the release, bbno$ released a music video that you can watch above.
Due to bbno$’s former history with creating ‘meme music’, engaging heavily with internet culture, and creating this ‘fun' music, his discography may be underappreciated or unjustly criticized- 'antidepressants' included. However, when looked at in a broader scope, there’s truly nobody in the mainstream scene creating the style of music he is in the same authentic manner. There’s something special about bbno$, a uniqueness that reflects a once in a lifetime type of artist and performer.
With his current era, he’s managed to curate a committed fanbase who aren’t just sticking around for a one hit song. bbno$ being connected with internet culture has actually worked in his favour, as his engagement with fanart, fan requests, and his general appreciation for those who listen to his music has led to the building of a strong and interactive community. On Twitter, you can find his community space called “people with $wag” or you can head over to his TikTok to see where he’s left comments on posts of people who use his song, and the cosplays he’s been working on in between releases and tour.

You can catch bbno$ on his “It’s Pronounced Baby No Money” World Tour or at Day 2 (Saturday) of Osheaga this August. If tours aren’t your thing, you can stream his music and follow his socials at the links below to ensure you never miss a release.
