On Friday, November 8th, We Demand Parachutes released their sophomore EP, Cheerful Coping. This marks a new chapter for the band, following the debut album Outside The Null Field, which received widespread acclaim in 2022. Last fall, they collaborated with Maine's Fake Feelings on a track titled "Still Trying" and teamed up with NYC's Shower Beers for a song called "Pete Wentz Doesn’t Know The Name of Our Band." The melodic and explosive Cheerful Coping, produced and engineered by Alan Day of Four Year Strong, captures the essence of modern life and highlights the small things we do to keep moving forward as the world around us faces challenges.
The track "It's Been A Year" highlights a sleek side of We Demand Parachutes. It concludes the EP in a refreshingly unique manner. The vibrant guitars and captivating melodies create a distinct rarity that can only be found in the music of We Demand Parachutes.
"This song reflects my experiences as a Green Beret in the Army and the complex emotions that arise when returning home. We dedicate this song to our troops and armed forces, acknowledging the struggles they face after coming back from war. The theme of this EP, Cheerful Coping, tells the story of the underdog. We aimed to create a record about standing strong in the face of adversity and showing resilience. You have the power to choose your own fate," says the band about the focus track.
The energetic and vibrant track "Cheerful Coping," produced and engineered by Alan Day of Four Year Strong, embodies the spirit of modern life and highlights the small things we do to keep moving forward amidst the chaos of the world. The album will feature a bonus track titled "Silver Linings: Lost 2020 Demo" as the seventh track. The band shares, "A few years ago, we had a backpack stolen from our truck in Florida, which contained the session for a song called 'Silver Linings.' As a fun little Easter egg for our fans, we're choosing to release a demo version from 2020."
