Tiny Moving Parts Brings The Emo Back To The Brooklyn Monarch

On Friday December 13th, 2024, emo band Tiny Moving Parts brings elder emo fans back to The Brooklyn Monarch in New York City.

Tiny Moving Parts is an American emo band which was formed in 2008 in Benson, Minnesota. Since the start of the band, they have released seven studio albums. Recently, they have released their brand new album titled 'Deep In The Blue' which came out on November 15th, 2024. The band's sound consists of elements from multiple genres like indie rock, and post hardcore; which fans absolutely love.

The band was founded by brothers William Chevalier (drums), and Matthew Chevalier (bassist) and cousin Dylan Mattheisen (vocals, guitar). The trio had gone to school together and has decided to form a band together. Families forming a band together is absolutely astonishing and it can be very meaningful. With them having so much in common, the energy within the song writing reaches beyond expectations and fans are delivered with such pure emotion.

Throughout the set, Tiny Moving Parts have performed a decent amount of tracks from their latest album and fans were able to hear songs such as "Before I Go", "Deep In The Blue", "The Cure (But Not Really)", and "Waterbed P.2"

The event took place at the one and only The Brooklyn Monarch. The Brooklyn Monarch is a very well known music venue out here in New York City. The venue first opened in 2020 and since then, it is one of the most played venues in Brooklyn. The venue is a 10,000 sq ft venue located in the heart of East Williamsburg, New York. The Brooklyn Monarch provides people a blend of different occasions they can attend; from Live Concerts, late night partying, DJ after party and many more. The Brooklyn Monarch I just discovered has three stages; two that are indoors and if you were to enter into the backyard area of the venue, there is also an outdoor stage. From my personal experience, I've only seen the two out of the three which will be the main stage and the outdoor stage. I've ordered so many shirley temples and chicken tenders and fries numerous times there and they have always given me the best experience whenever I was feeling hungry from either moshing too much or always running around with my camera. You will never walk out of there feeling disappointed from all the services that are provided to you. The security guards also do a fantastic job at assisting those who are in need for help and always checks in with us to see if we are all doing okay.

Once Tiny Moving Parts took the stage, fans were roaring and screaming in pure excitement and of course it was one of the days I forgot to bring my earplugs. The band started their set off with "Before I Go", which is the first song that was released from their latest album 'Deep In the Blue'. Everybody in the crowd were singing along and some were even in tears in the pit. While inside the venue, I asked fans how long they have been listening to Tiny Moving Parts and majority of them have been around since the beginning. New York knows how to bring in the energy and since there was no barricade, I kept getting pushed around but it was all worth it.

The second song of the night was their most popular song "Always Focused" which was released a little over a decade ago from their album 'Pleasant Living'. William Chevalier's vocals are raw and emotionally charged, effectively conveying the lyrical theme of personal struggles. His skill in guitar was absolutely incredible and some fans in the crowd were trying to play air guitar. So many fans joined them and sang the lyrics as loud as they could. Matthew was also getting the crowds attention and some people were so fascinated by his energy and helped kept everybody moving around.

Throughout the set, Tiny Moving Parts have performed a decent amount of tracks from their latest album and fans were able to hear songs such as "Before I Go", "Deep In The Blue", "The Cure (But Not Really)", and "Waterbed P.2" and have mainly performed additional songs from albums 'Tiny Moving Parts', 'breathe', 'Swell' and many more. It still amazes me how they formed in 2008 while they were still in school and now they have over 200k streams on music platforms. That absolutely is insane with how much hard work they have put over the past 16 years of their music career.

Billy Chevalier's drumming style has a unique and dynamic one, often described as unpredictable and exciting. His ability to blend technical proficiency with an intuitive sense of rhythm allows him to create drumming patterns that keep listeners on their toes. His energetic approach adds a layer of intensity to the music.

To close the night, the band finished their set with "Medicine" which is one of their most popular songs on their discography. Fans were pushing each other around in the pit and singing along. It was a very pleasant night and Tiny Moving Parts gained a brand new fan after tonight.
