Currents and ERRA have been touring across North America behind their respective releases on The Silence Follows Tour and the monstrous co-headliner made its way to a sold out Irving Plaza show in New York City with Caskets and AVIANA as support.

The Swedish metalcore act AVIANA kicked the night off and delivered with ferocious intent. Vocalist Joel Holmqvist delivered vocals with sheer intensity and the drummer, known as Dark, was a machine on the drums with his extreme double kicks and intense chops. The crowd warmed up nicely to AVIANA and were moshing violently on songs like "EVERMORE" and formed a circle pit during "Rage". When the band played "Oblivion", Death and Fear motioned for the room to split apart and the floor turned into a Wall of Death when Holmqvist screamed "F*CK YOU!!!!!". AVIANA then had everyone take their cell phone lights out for "Anomaly" before finishing their set on a high note with "Obsession".
Next to take the stage was Caskets. Caskets is a post-hardcore metal band formed in Leeds, United Kingdom in 2018. Members currently comprise of Matt Flood (vocals), Craig Robinson and Benji Wilson (guitars), Chris McIntosh (bassist), and lastly James Lazenby (drums). The band is currently signed to Sharptone Records and recently have unleashed their highly-anticipated album, The Only Heaven You'll Know. To kick things off, the band opened their set with "Make Me A Martyr" off their latest album. Instantly, the room roared as soon as Flood ran on stage and showed off his high ranged vocals; it almost felt that I was listening to the studio version of their songs. The band performed songs such as "Guiding Light", "Lost In Echos", and many more. Caskets knew how to keep fans off their feet, and honestly the room felt like it was one giant mosh pit. Towards the end of their set, the last song they performed is one of their most played songs “Glass Heart" off their album Lost Souls, and Flood called for crowd surfers. Fans sent a sea of crowd surfers over the barrier to end Caskets' thunderous set.
The lights went dark and a screen presented a ten second countdown timer. Fans were screaming and counting down as the seconds have gone by. It was time for one of the headliners ERRA to take the stage. ERRA is an American metalcore band based in Birmingham, Alabama that formed in 2009. The band comprises of members J.T. Cavey (vocals), Jesse Cash (vocals/guitar), Clint Tustin (guitar), Conor Hesse (bass), and lastly Alex Ballew (drums). ERRA has such a significant sound with their heavy chuggs and progressive metal and djent aspects. The band has described their style as "melodic-ambient". Earlier this month on March 6th, the band has unveiled their latest album silence outlives the earth via UNFD. This album marks as the band's first album since the release of CURE in 2024.
To kick things off for the night, ERRA opened with "gore of being" from their latest album. Since this album is fairly new, I did not expect so many fans to scream along to the lyrics and boy was I surprised. My ears are still recovering and I'm so glad I didn't forget my ear plugs. The energy went absolutely feral and I have not seen so many crowd surfers at Irving Plaza before. Guitarists Jesse Cash and Clint Tustin are known for their technical skills in guitar and they always continue to amaze me every time with their talent. The band continued their set, performing songs such as "further eden", "Vanish Canvas", "Cure" and more. During "Vanish Canvas", the track was mainly focused on Cash's vocals and so many fans in the crowd started a "Jesse" chant after the band introduced the song. Since Irving Plaza was completely sold out, it was very difficult to move my way around the venue, but I was able to get myself through everybody who was moshing. The energy picked up when ERRA performed "Gungrave". "Gungrave" is one of the singles off their self titled album, and honestly it is one of their best songs to play live. The track starts off with rapid guitar riffs and harsh vocals from Cavey. The mosh pit warriors immediately knew what to do and started a circle pit, which almost made its way to the barricade. The pit got a little more rowdy when the long time fans made their way into the pit to swing it out during the oldest songs on the set, "Drift" and "Skyline", both from their 2016 album, Drift. To close off the set, the band concluded with "Snowblood" off their self-titled album. Cavey told the crowd how NYC was one of the best crowds the band has seen on this tour. New York has been one of the states that has supported ERRA for a long time and have been considered a second home to the band. I remember seeing them for the first time in 2016 at a dive bar on Long Island, opening up for Born of Osiris and becoming hooked on them instantly. Now I saw them play a sold out Irving Plaza show for a second time and it was even better than the last time.

If you thought the night was over, you are wrong. It was time for the last headliner for the night, Currents. Currents is an American metalcore band based in Newtown, Connecticut originally formed in 2011. The band currently comprises of members Brian Wille (vocals), Christian Pulgarin (bass), Chris Wiseman (guitar), Ryan Castaldi (guitar), and Matt Young (drums). This co-headline tour marks as the band's first headliner in North America since 2023 after the release of album, The Death We Seek, which was released in May 2023 via Sharptone Records. After two years since the album release, the band unleashed a new EP All That Follows via Sharptone Records. Currents is one of those bands that you cannot sleep on. The band continues to gain more popularity after each release with their crushing breakdowns, complimented by melodic choruses that no one can resist singing along. This tour was one of the band's biggest headliner to date.

The band began their set with "So Alone", which was from their latest album The Death We Seek. If you thought the crowd surfers went crazy for ERRA, it was only just the beginning. I honestly felt bad for the security guards with the amount of crowd surfers that came over the barricade. Guitarist Chris Wiseman took fans by surprise with his insane guitar work. Fans were going feral once they learned that Currents was performing their EP All That Follows in full. Vocalist Brian Wille always continues to improve on his vocals and he delivered such strong guttural screams. Midway throughout their set, the band performed one of their oldest tracks "Apnea" off their album, The Place I Feel Safest. The pit opened up even more and was full of people pushing and hardcore dancing. Like with ERRA, New York has been one of the few states to have supported Currents since the beginning and have always continued to show so much support to them, so old school fans definitely appreciated this. If you have been to a Currents show, you would know that bassist Christian Pulgarin always keeps the crowd moving and always tries to match the crowds energy while on stage. Pulgarin's back up screams always compliments Wille's vocals, making the performance even more heavy and fun. As the night went on, the band performed hits such as "Remember Me", "Kill The Ache", "Better Days", and many more. As the night was coming to a close, the band called for a wall of death during their song "Into Despair" and let's just say Irving Plaza was not ready. The band called for the room to split down the middle and I saw people even getting pushed outside the doors to the floor. The band ended their set with first track off of the new EP, "It Only Gets Darker" and the fans helped Brian sing the words out loud and used every bit of energy they had left. This show was one to remember and all of the bands overall put on a memorable performance.
