The Rock and Roll Queen herself, Dorothy, returned to the Wellmont Theater in Montclair, New Jersey, on 9/11/25 in support of The Redemption Tour and her new album The Way (released in March 2025 via ROC Nation).
New Jersey has had the pleasure of seeing Dorothy many times over the last couple of years, as she’s been a veteran of MMRBQ, the legendary Stone Pony, and of course, the Wellmont Theater. Tonight, she returned to Montclair with Eddie and The Getaway.
Opening the night was Eddie and The Getaway, a rock/country trio reminiscent of bands like Creed and Hinder but with a modern touch. Their country-driven lyrics, hard-hitting drums, and rock-leaning guitars warmed the crowd up with high energy.
Starting off with a few of their most popular tracks, “SuperNOVACAIN” and “Love Myself”, the band broke into a mashup of several well-known songs that deftly reflected their musical influences. The mashup contained parts of Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris”, “Down” by Jay Sean, “Crazy Bitch” by Buckcherry, and Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff”. Later in the set, they also performed a cover of Hinder’s Lips of an “Angel”.
Their set was full of energy, especially from lead singer Eddie Eberle, who apologized for “running around and going nuts” due to his ADD.

Finally, the time had arrived. No fancy curtain pull, no elaborate set, no crazy light show—just pure Rock and Roll. The lights dimmed, smoke filled the stage, and the opening of “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone echoed through the Wellmont Theater. Drummer Jake Hayden entered behind the kit, followed by Trev Lukather with bass in hand, guitar maestro Sam Koltun, and lastly, in ever-so-sparkly attire, Dorothy herself.
To kick off the set, she started with “Down to the Bottom” and flowed right into “The Devil I Know” off Dorothy’s latest album The Way (released March 4 via Roc Nation). She slowed it down ever so slightly with the moody “Ain’t Our Time to Die” from her earlier album 28 Days in the Valley. Dorothy’s powerful vocals on this track are reminiscent of Grace Slick, Janis Joplin, or even Ann Wilson of Heart.
Mid-set, Dorothy leaned into some heavier tunes like “Mud”, complete with guttural screams, before easing back into groove-laden tracks like “Medicine Man”. Right before she kicked off “Rest in Piece”, she called out a fan who was on their phone—jokingly asking if they were taking notes. I have to admit, I’m fairly certain she was calling me out. And yep!, Dorothy, I was taking notes for this article. My apologies!
Closing out the night, Dorothy ended with one of her most energetic songs, “Tombstone Town”, which fired up the crowd one last time before sending them off on a high.
