YEARNING: THE UNBEAUTIFUL AFTER

Boundaries have finally released their eagerly-awaited new album, Yearning: the unbeautiful after, available now through Sumerian Records.
The band’s frontman, Matthew McDougal, has shared insights into the creative process behind the album. He explained that their goal was to be uncompromising and firmly establish their identity within the heavy music scene. McDougal expressed concern that, over time, heavy music has been losing its intensity and edge, qualities that are essential to the genre. He emphasised their desire to create an album that exudes urgency and provokes a strong emotional response.
In a recent interview with Revolver, McDougal delved deeper into the band’s mindset during the writing and recording of the 14-track album. He revealed that they wanted to focus less on the middle ground and more on pushing the boundaries of their sound. By doing so, they aimed to showcase the full extent of their capabilities and what they believe they are capable of achieving as a band.
The album has already garnered significant attention and praise from critics. Early reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, with Kerrang! describing the album as “blistering,” Consequence labelling it as “vicious,” and other reviewers highlighting its “unrelenting aggression and pure antagonism.” These accolades suggest that Boundaries have succeeded in their mission to create a powerful and impactful album that stays true to the roots of heavy music.
Yearning: the unbeautiful after is a testament to Boundaries’ commitment to their craft and their determination to make a mark in the music industry. With its uncompromising sound and intense energy, the album is set to resonate with fans of heavy music and solidify Boundaries’ place as a formidable force within the genre. As the band continues to push the boundaries of their sound, listeners can expect more innovative and exciting releases in the future.
Boundaries have just completed their European tour and are gearing up for an exciting lineup of performances. They will take the stage at the Warped Tour in Long Beach, California, on July 26. Following this, they will be part of the Endless Fires Festival and Louder Than Life events. Fans can look forward to a six-week Fall tour starting on September 26, where Boundaries will be joined by Knocked Loose and Denzel Curry. This tour promises to be a thrilling experience for music enthusiasts, showcasing a blend of energetic performances and diverse musical styles.
Having been a Boundaries Fan for a long time now, I am super proud of this record and believe that this is only the start for the band going forward into their new chapter.
