Over the last 10 years, producer, singer, rapper, and visual artist Quadeca has been hard at work tweaking, refining, and creating this standout direction for his music. Just last year, on February 16th, Quadeca released SCRAPYARD through DeadAir Records and AWAL. This project wound up being critically acclaimed, earning praise from fans and the music community alike, and was one of the highest-rated albums on the platform Album of the Year.
Although he had a dedicated fanbase before, SCRAPYARD gave Quadeca this cult-following, with listeners drawn to this boundary-pushing sound, whether it be within his own projects, his production work with artists like Sky Ferreria, or direct collaborations with Kevin Abstract and Lil Nas X. The passionate and raw artistry seen within SCRAPYARD and even his 2022 record I Didn’t Mean To Haunt You, paved the way for Quadeca’s upcoming fifth studio album, VANISHER, HORIZON SCRAPER.

Releasing via his own label X8 Music, VANISHER, HORIZON SCRAPER has been highly anticipated since Quadeca first revealed the project's title during his performance with Kevin Abstract at Coachella 2024. VANISHER, HORIZON SCRAPER, is said to be an ambitious sailor-themed concept album set to define his artistry once again. The first installment of the project, ‘GODSTAINED’, hit streaming platforms on March 25th.
‘GODSTAINED’ opens with his bossa nova guitar and begins to slowly layer the tracks' other elements. Listeners become familiar with a flute melody, then a snapping pattern, a mix of various styles of drums, and a mix of vocals from both Quadeca himself and a female vocalist. ‘GODSTAINED’ makes it easy to get lost within the mellowness, as if you’re bathing under the sunrays at the beach. However, within the last minute of the track, the guitar picks up, and Quadeca’s melodic vocals shift into an urgency, bringing in the rap element of his previous works, effectively bringing ‘GODSTAINED’ to a high-energy, orchestral-like finale.
To accompany the single, Quadeca directed his own music video, setting the starting point for the larger concept behind the project. The ‘GODSTAINED’ music video follows him as a sailor drifting at sea, becoming obsessed with a floating bottle within the ocean. We watch as Quadeca aimlessly seems to wanders between his boat in the sea and back on a shoreline that appears to be crowded with abandoned and broken vessels, possibly leaning into the “scraper” aspect of the album's title. The video ends with a shot of the empty bottle that set his journey in motion, leaving us wondering what is yet to come.
While there is no set release date known, we can assume VANISHER, HORIZON SCRAPER will be out sometime this year. Stay tuned for updates.
