The artist Novulent held his album release party at Three Links in Deep Ellum on Thursday, February 12th. The venue was small, but it was sold out and packed with people. From the moment I walked in, I could tell this night was important. Something I first noticed was everyone’s style. Almost everyone wore black. People had unique hairstyles, dark makeup, and outfits that felt very intentional. It felt like everyone there understood the artist and the music, and they expressed that through how they looked.
People stood and sat all around the room. Some sat at the bar talking and waiting. Others sat at small tables, watching the stage and checking their phones. Many people pushed their way closer to the front, hoping to get the best view. Even though the space was small, it never felt boring or quiet. There was a constant energy. People talked with excitement, laughed, and looked toward the stage with anticipation. Everyone was there for the same reason, and you could feel that shared excitement in the room.
At around a quarter past nine, Novulent finally came on stage. The moment he appeared, the entire room erupted into cheers. People screamed, clapped, and rushed even closer. The energy instantly changed. It felt louder, brighter, and more alive. You could tell how much people loved him and his music. He began playing songs from his new album, and the crowd listened closely, singing along when they could. The music sounded even better live. It filled the room completely.
I was already a fan before this, but being there made the experience so much more meaningful. Hearing the music live, surrounded by people who loved it just as much, made it feel real in a different way. Everyone was fully present in that moment. People closed their eyes, nodded their heads, and let themselves feel the music.
Even though the venue was small, it made the experience more personal. It felt close and real, like everyone there was part of something important. The packed room, the shared excitement, and the live performance made the night unforgettable. It was not just about hearing the music. It was about experiencing it together.
