Lorna Shore Leaves New Jersey “In Darkness”

On 5/22/26, Lorna Shore returned home for the finale of their 2026 tour. The 26-city trek took them through parts of the U.S. and Canada, including festival stops at Sonic Temple and Welcome to Rockville. Fans wrapped around the building leading up to the front of Wellmont Theater, thankful for a break from the 90 degree weather and rain leading up to this show.

Signs of The Swarm

Upon entry to the venue, the room was already filled with fog emanating from the stage. Barely lit and with no curtain, the backdrop for Signs of the Swarm sat at the forefront, hinting at the massive setup later in the night for Lorna Shore. At first glance, it seemed the band would be up close and personal, a perfect atmosphere for the Pittsburgh deathcore band.

The fog reached its peak thickness as red and amber lights flooded the stage. Four massive lights mounted on the catwalk illuminated like spotlights while ambient humming and ticking echoed throughout the venue. Blinding lights then burst through the haze as the band hit the stage. The brightest lights around the drum kit shrouded vocalist David Simonich as he shouted, “We are Signs of the Swarm!” before launching into “To Rid Myself of Truth.” The approximately 30-minute set summoned endless waves of crowd surfers at Simonich’s command, enough to give security a workout and clearly was a warmup for what was still to come. Memorably from the set was when Will Ramos came out to sing “Clouded Retinas”

Paleface Swiss

Full stack amplifiers now lined the stage, reminiscent of when analog equipment dominated concerts years ago. Swedish deathcore band Paleface Swiss took the stage. This was a band I had wanted to see for a long time. Their unique blend of deathcore, nu-metal influences, blistering riffs, and rap inspired vocals felt refreshing to the scene while also capturing similar raw energy of the Self titled Slipknot album and Iowa era.

Kicking off with “I Am a Cursed One,” Paleface Swiss immediately chose chaos. Vocalist Marc Zellweger delivered his signature rapid fire vocals while nearly bending backward as he screamed. Meanwhile, bassist Tommy Lee and guitarist Yannick Lehmann sprinted back and forth across the stage as if they were their own personal circle pit. All the while, drummer Cassiano Toma’s blast beats kept the very thing in check.

The aftermath prompted Zellweger to demand even more energy, yelling for the crowd to “fuck this place up”  though, thankfully, fans kept things respectful.

Going into “And With Hope You’ll Be Damned,” the energy never let up. Lehmann’s guitar squeals were enough to give Dimebag Darrell and Zakk Wylde a run for their money. Between songs, Zellweger engaged with the audience, explaining that it was the band’s first time playing the Wellmont Theater and that a Friday night was meant for drinking and having fun. Throughout the following songs, the crowd surfing only intensified as more fans launched themselves forward at Zellweger’s command.

The final portion of the set began with “Everything Is Fine” from their latest EP, ‘The Wilted’, released through  Blood Blast Distribution. Compared to the rest of the set, the song carried more of a ballad like atmosphere. Zellweger even encouraged audience members to climb onto each other’s shoulders as the chaos continued.

The lights faded to black after nearly 20 minutes of mid 2000s EDM and techno tracks echoed throughout the venue, including “7th Element” by Vitas. If you know, you know. Blue lights slowly faded in, and every ten seconds a flash synchronized with the tapping of a clock hand before bringing the room back into darkness. The calm before the storm. The band emerged. In the midst of the darkness, vocalist Will Ramos’s signature growl rang out: “Shaking hands with death, a means of fallacy. Take all of your regrets and fucking bathe in it.” Four towering LED pillars and a massive LED wall cascading behind and around the drum kit transformed the entire stage into a giant strobe light and multimedia experience. A sight to behold to the beginning of “Oblivion”

As each song bled into the next, the hordes of crowd surfers never stopped. Enough chaos to end the photographers’ song limit early unfortunately. Lead guitarist Adam De Micco unleashed soaring solos throughout the Wellmont Theater, especially during songs like “Sun//Eater” and “Cursed to Die.” One of the most memorable moments came during “In Darkness,” when the breakdown shifted the lighting and LED wall into a cosmic atmosphere before spotlighting De Micco’s solo and transitioning back to Ramos. Midway through the set, Ramos addressed the hometown crowd, thanking his friends and family for supporting him while expressing regret that his father could not be there. The band then performed “Glenwood,” a  track that deeply explores Ramos’ relationship with his father.

Near the end of the set, Ramos informed the audience that they were about to play their final song but joked, “The next one is a trilogy, and we’re playing the whole thing, so it’s really three songs anyway.”

Pain Remains I: Dancing Like Flames” became one of the evening’s defining moments, highlighted by the crowd passionately singing along with Ramos during the bridge: “The face behind the silhouette in this world I made to be infinite.” Then, as the lyrics appeared across the screens, the audience grew even louder with the line: “A world without you isn’t meant for me.” Lorna Shore ultimately closed the night with “To the Hellfire,” bringing their hometown performance and the tour itself  to an unforgettable end.
