Lamb of God, a heavy metal band hailing from Richmond, Virginia releases an unsparing new single, Sepsis via Epic Records. Additionally, this song was produced by Josh Wilbur, who produced their self-titled album. This song is one of their first non-collaborative releases since the release of their 2022 album, Omens. The release of Sepsis marks their band's long awaited return after several years of leaving fans ravenous for new music. Moreover, Lamb of God continues to release heavy, brutal music while still staying true to their original sound.

Diving into the meaning of Sepsis, Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton describes this song as “a celebration of the very underground local bands here in Richmond that we really admired when we were just forming Burn the Priest (prior name of Lamb of God).” He goes on to explain, “The song references that stuff in a way that’s a direct line to where we were coming from when we were in the basement writing our earliest material together.”

Musically, this song dives into a deeper, sludgier and doom reminiscent sound; which we have seen many bands adopt lately. This still gives listeners the signature sound they have come to expect, while giving versatility within the listening experience, and broadening their horizon.

In regards to the music video, it consists of very low quality recordings showing Lamb of God perform in a graveyard. The footage is reminiscent of underground bands with limited budgets, exactly the vibe Lamb of God was hoping to conjure up. You can view the music video here

On top of that, Lamb of God played this song for the first time at their Aftershock set in Sacramento, California, on October 3. Fans can only hope that the debut of this new song will hint at the release of more music, or even a tour!
