Rock band L.S. Dunes recently released the title track from their upcoming sophomore album Violet, which is set to release on January 31st via Fantasy Records. Fans can stream the single here and watch the colorful new music video here. Preorders for Violet are available here.
“I think ‘Violet’ is the song that fully encapsulates everything we do as a band. Frank brought the demo to the band as a fully structured song, and it seemed that we all just knew immediately what we had to do,” shares bassist Tim Payne. “I hear quite a few elements from songs on Past Lives, but it’s filtered through the lens of a more established musical language between us, and we were able to take this already incredible song Frank wrote and elevate it to a place I don't think any of us imagined it could go."
“Violet” truly showcases L.S. Dunes’ evolving musical style, with versatile vocals from frontman Anthony Green and melodic guitar solos that capture the emotion of the song. Lyrically, it is a heartfelt, personal track that tells a story of someone moving on from a person who hurt them, despite deeply caring about the person and wanting to forgive them. Unable to forget the pain this person caused, the narrator finds solace in the fact that they got karma for their inconsiderate actions. In a world where lack of communication is so normalized, “Violet” can surely emotionally resonate with many people who have been hurt by someone in a similar way.
Frontman Anthony Green mentioned: "This song is about someone getting exactly what they deserve. This song helped me get through the feeling of being ghosted."
L.S. Dunes recently finished their US tour supporting Rise Against, and will be joining them on their UK/EU tour starting late January. Get tickets HERE.
