Indie rock band Endearments have officially announced their debut album, An Always Open Door, set to release on March 6, 2026. Along with this announcement, a brand-new single, “Real Deal”, was unveiled giving listeners a preview of the album sound, that will feature the emotive qualities of 80s synthpop and late-90s emo in equal measure.
The new album will feature nine emotionally charged indie rock tracks with lush synth textures and vibrant instrumentation, created by the trio of vocalist/bassist Kevin Marksson, guitarist Anjali Nair, and drummer Will Haywood Smith, in collaboration with producer Abe Seiferth (pre-order here).
Endearments’ first full-length record comes with a shift in the band’s approach to songwriting, prioritizing a more meditative musing over the intensity of raw immediacy, with the end result being an album that foregrounds the emotional truths of the past.
"When I wrote the first two Endearments EPs, Father of Wands and It Can Be Like This, I was only recently outside of the events that inspired those songs: a failed marriage; a hopeful new relationship. When I sat down to write lyrics for our first full-length record, I had no intention of interrogating those memories and feelings again. Nevertheless, as the songs took shape, I felt myself looking back at the last six years with a renewed sense of curiosity."
- Kevin Marksson (vocalist/bassist)
“Real Deal”, the first single from the album, presents a slowly perishing relationship. Hinting at the myth of Apollo and Daphne, the song touches on the emotional turmoil that occurs when feelings are not reciprocated and the music video, directed by Paul Desilva, perfectly envisions that.
An Always Open Door will be released on March 6, 2026 via Trash Casual.
