Following the announcement of their first headlining tour of the US and the subsequent success of their April 12th release of the album ‘Black’, Swedish powerhouse ‘Imminence’ has become one of the fasting rising bands in the metalcore scene. In addition to one of the most stacked line ups of the summer, the band with hit a ton of the more notable festivals. It’s no surprise , another successful band reached out to collaborate on one of the album singles.
Imminence was born in Trellborg, Sweden in 2009 by vocalist Eddie Berg, guitarist Harald Barrett, guitarist Alex Arnoldsson, and bassist Fredrik Rosdahl (replaced by Christian Hoijer. In 2010 Berg and Barrett came up with the name “Imminence” and released their debut EP, Born of Sirius, soon after in 2012. The Ep was extremely well-received and the band was asked to place Metaltown Festival (2004-2016).
Just a year later the band signed with a We are Triumphant Records (Victory Records) and put out a second EP Return for the Helios, and their debut album I . The Black is the latest release following I and three other studio length albums : This is Goodbye, Turn the Light On, and Heaven in Hiding . Imminence has some great material and show no signs of slowing, but I they really began to stand out to me live.
Bands in the metal scene have long since began to add different bits and pieces from other genres, whether it’s structure or sound, and Imminence is no exception, but they go where other bands don’t. I realized this when Berg returns to the stage, violin in hand. The live experience becomes more unique, in my opinion, when more elements of a track are played live.
In the wake of all of this popularity the band decides to revamp one of their singles “Death by a Thousand Cuts” . The band couldn’t have chose a better vocalist to collaborate with: Lucas Woodland of successful Welsh post-hardcore outfit “Holding Absence”. Woodland’s soulful vocals fit in perfectly with Bergs’ making a great single even better.
Unfortunately, Imminence just completed their US tour at the end of May. They toured Europe until the middle of July and are set to perform at Rockstadt Extreme Fest 2024 in Brasav, Romania July 31-August 4th and Bautz Festival 2024 in Ludenscheid, Germany August 23-24. Fear not, the band has made such a splash they're sure to be back near you soon.
