After a 5 year hiatus, Balance and Composure announced their return this year along with their upcoming album “With You In Spirit”, releasing on October 4th via Memory Music, their first full-length album since 2016. The band has recently released the title track from their long-awaited new record, the final single before the album’s release. “With You In Spirit” combines melodic riffs with hard-hitting, emotional lyrics. The song deals with themes of absence and regret, with the narrator feeling guilty about not supporting his loved one as much as he feels he should, wishing he could be there for them more often. In 2019, Balance and Composure parted ways as a result of not feeling creatively fulfilled, and intended for 2016’s “Light We Made” to be their final full-length album. However, during the pandemic which occurred shortly after the breakup, the band started to have second thoughts. Guitarist Evan Petersen eventually reached out to his former bandmates, wondering if they would be up for writing music together again just for the sake of it. Everyone agreed to the offer, and in October 2022 they began to write new songs which eventually led to the creation of the record “With You In Spirit”.
“I began to feel like a kid again,” says frontman Jon Simmons. “We were writing these songs for the pure reason of having an outlet and getting together with your friends, no pressure. We were longing for it, and we found it as soon as we got together. We didn’t want that train to stop.”
Balance and Composure will be touring North America on a headlining tour starting October 3rd, with support from Kevin Devine & the Goddamn Band and Milly.
