Arm’s Length Release Morning Person Music Video, Concluding Their Trilogy of Videos

Arm’s Length released their sophomore album There’s a Whole World Out There on May 16th. The album has already received lots of success. Two of their singles received music videos that were a part of a larger story. While they released the album with the single Fatal Flaw on May 16, this song did receive a music video but not as a part of the connected story. On June 5th, Arm’s Length released the music video for “Morning Person”, which you can watch here. This concluded their trilogy of videos.

The music video opens with the band performing in a field. It switches to the man from the first two videos in a suit, lying on his bed. He moves downstairs and we see a funeral set up in the living room. There is a photo of the girl from the first two videos, indicating that the funeral is for her. As the song progresses, we see the man getting more and more distressed. As we near the bridge, the image switches from the man holding a watch and crying and an older version of him flipping through a photo album. In both scenes, the man is crying. The video switches back to the younger version of the man and he looks up to see the woman who passed away, smiling at him in a white dress. He clearly screams, and all his friends surround him. When the video switches back to the band, they are no longer performing in the field, but now the same church from the first video. As the video comes to a close, we see more home videos of the woman and the man, really pulling on the heart strings.

“Morning Person” is one of the most emotional songs that I have heard in a very long time, and Arm’s Length is very self aware of this. “Morning Person is genuinely my favorite Arm’s Length song,” says vocalist and guitarist Allen Steinberg. “I’d say it’s the most important one, at least to me. Lyrically, it captures so many emotions that I’ve had to process within not only the last few years, but my entire lifetime. Constant compulsive overthinking, debilitating anxiety and familial trauma are all themes that are tackled in this song. As a whole, it feels extremely triumphant, and writing this song truly helped me realize that I am worth the amount of space I take up in the world.”

Arm’s Length is truly one of the best bands in the scene right now. They are emotionally charged and they are not afraid to write what they are feeling. Steinberg channels all of his past experiences and challenges into heartbreaking songs that you can’t help but listen to over and over again. If you haven’t listened to There’s a Whole World Out There yet, what are you waiting for?
