Windwaker Unleash Third Album Ahead of Biggest Australian Headline Tour
Australian genre-benders Windwaker have officially released their third full-length album, smile, you're on camera, available now through Civilians and Fearless Records. The record marks a new chapter for the Melbourne, Australia-based band, bringing together their unpredictable blend of modern metal, infectious hooks, and emotionally driven songwriting.
Built around the experiences and changes that have shaped the band since their previous album, HYPERVIOLENCE, smile, you're on camera explores personal growth, sacrifice, and the search for authenticity in a world increasingly shaped by superficiality and deception. The result is a collection of energetic, melodic, and emotionally resonant songs that reflect both the challenges and triumphs of the band's journey.
Sonically, the album leans into a grittier, more guitar-driven approach, embracing a more analog-focused production style while retaining the eclectic experimentation that has become central to Windwaker's identity. From crushing modern-metal passages to pop-influenced melodies and unexpected stylistic shifts, the record showcases a band continuing to push its creative boundaries.
The album features previously released tracks including “low,” “closer”, “click” featuring RinRin, “do or die”, “dna”, and “victory lap”. The remaining songs expand on the record's varied sound, with “loser” featuring Mikaila Delgado among the album's additional collaborations.
Since forming, vocalist Liam Guinane, guitarist Justin Keurntjes, bassist Indey Salvestro, drummer Chris Lalic, and synths and samples specialist Connor Robins have established Windwaker as one of Australia's distinctive modern heavy acts, building a dedicated international following through their adventurous sound and energetic live performances.
To celebrate the release, the band will launch their biggest Australian headline tour to date this week. Presented by triple j and Destroy All Lines, the run features special guests The Pretty Wild, making their first trip to Australia, alongside RinRin and DREGG. DREGG will not appear at the Perth show.
Following the Australian dates, Windwaker will return to North America in November and December to support Beartooth alongside Don Broco. The band will then head back to Europe in February to tour with Bury Tomorrow and Stick To Your Guns.
With smile, you're on camera now available worldwide, Windwaker are bringing their latest material to the stage while continuing to establish themselves as one of the most adventurous names in modern metal.
