Last Friday, the Canadian folk band The Strumbellas held a very intimate performance at Circolo Magnolia in Milan, Italy, that made their fans from all ages dance their feet off for an hour and a half while promoting their latest album, Part Time Believer, that was released earlier this year.

The night started with Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, a folk alternative songwriter who really entertained the public with his deep voice and helped everyone get in the mood for the main attraction.

At around 9:30 pm, The Strumbellas entered the stage at Circolo Magnolia. The vocalist, Simon Ward, had a really great energy, always jumping around when singing, showing how much fun he was having. He also tried to make the public feel as part of the show as possible, to a point where him and David Ritter, keyboards, decided to read out loud letters that they had previously written and translated to Italian, getting laughs from the public as they tried their best to pronounce the words right. In those letters they expressed how happy they were to be touring around the world, and to be uniting all those people with their music, and how they wished the public was having as much fun as the band was.

Although the venue is quite small, the public was very active and every single person in the room was dancing. What really caught my eye was the fact that the public went from adults enjoying the night with their friends to families with small children enjoying just as much, showing that their concert is a safe place for every folk music lover no matter your age.

They held an A+ concert playing 19 songs including one featuring the opener, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, who joined them on stage for the second to last song, and calling it a night with their most famous single, ‘Spirits’ which was certified 3x Platinum in Italy.
