The Metalcore and Shoegaze Worlds Collide With Left Empty’s New Single “STILLWATER”

December was a busy month for all hands in the music industry, the balance of the present and the future is marched to the forefront of our minds. What will the new year bring to the business as a whole and where we will be with our own endeavors? Between dropping the new single and music visualizer for “STILLWATER” this month, Left Empty is moving into 2026 with momentum.

This “Alt-Metal” quartet, based out of Philly and Nashville, have been actively growing since their debut EP “STARE INTO THE SUN//STARE INTO THE VOID”. The band oozes layers of bouncy metalcore with shoegaze-y textures to vibe out to, pushing you to definitely feel something when you listen in. The balance of the clean and the harsh vocals are a contrast that, when done well, can really open up a dynamic conversation with the rest of the instruments. On this track that situation is certainly heard. Vocalist Joey Galletta knows how to hold an honest conversation with the rest of the band on this track. His insight into how he wrote for “STILLWATER” goes as follows:

Writing “STILLWATER” was my way of accepting the fact that I was becoming numb to much of what was going on in my life. At that time, I went from extreme highs to extreme lows. When the dust finally settled, it all summed down to a feeling of, well, nothing. It’s just fascinating to me that we are capable of feeling such a wide range of emotions, yet we are also capable of feeling nothing at all.

Whether you are a fan of the Deftones of Sleep Token, you will find something you like within this band’s discography. Left Empty paints each sonic canvas with a variety of colors and textures.
