Teen Mortgage are throwing a party to celebrate their new single, “Party” from their forthcoming, highly anticipated debut album, Devil Ultrasonic Dream.
The DC based duo channel classic punk greats with their latest track full of some blistering guitar riffs and so many gang vocals you’ll forget Teen Mortgage are two people - frontman James Guile and drummer Edward Barakauskas. “Party” tackles things like fitting in with the societal status quo in the current political climate and even alludes to some pretty hot button topics and politicians themselves. The main sentiment of the track is, as Guile shouts in the chorus, “They got me forced to work, but I'm born to party.”
Along with this controversial track, Teen Mortgage dropped the music video directed by D’ana Bugs. The JBTV-emulated video is filmed in Hell (although it looks more like a Jerry Springer set) complete with a live audience full of demons and some pretty scary clown puppets while Guile and Barakauskas let loose on their instruments.
Teen Mortgage’s debut album, Devil Ultrasonic Dream is set for release on April 11th via Roadrunner Records and leans into the 1980s-era Satanic Panic of rock and roll which is cycling back around as things are rapidly descending into Christian theocracy and censorship too fast for any one sane person’s liking. When asked about the record, frontman James Guile says, “[It] is about realizing a fantasy that Christian fascists don’t understand or want you to have. The devil—Satan—has always been a symbol of counterculture.”
The band also announced a huge North American tour to support the album that kicks off April 8th in Richmond, VA and will see the guys take over cities across the country and parts of Canada including Atlanta, Denver, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Toronto, and NYC on the 26 date run. Check out all of the tour dates here and grab your tickets while you can so you can brag to your friends and say you caught them before they got ultra famous! This headline tour will include support from Babe Haven, Spoon Benders, and Upchuck on select dates.
