Silverstein and Dayseeker Team Up for Newest Single, Drain the Blood

Ontario-based band Silverstein have already released an album this year, Antibloom, which came out on February 21. However, the band is not done yet. They are set to release their second album of the year, Pink Moon, on September 12. On June 19, they released their second single from the album, “Drain the Blood”. You can watch the music video for the song here

The video starts with lead singer Shane Told walking in a drainage ditch. He walks into a pipe and enters a room with white walls. As the chorus kicks in, you see the rest of the band each playing their distinct instrument, but only them, not the rest of the band with them. As it progresses, you see Told walking into the room with red carpet and the band is performing on an old TV. In the second verse and the second chorus, Told is trying to change the channel and then tries to destroy the TV. Then, enter Rory Rodriguez. As he performs his part, the two singers find the wires that connect to the TV and the TV goes fuzzy in the end.

This is just another great Silverstein song. There are no two ways about it. Their first album this year was great, and the fact that this album might top the first, based off of the first two singles, is incredible. Getting Rory Rodriguez on a song with Silverstein is not something that I would have thought would happen, but honestly, the two vocalists work so well together with their sound that it is flawless. Rodriguez was the absolute perfect feature for this song.

When asked about the meaning of the song, guitarist Paul Marc Rousseau stated “The premise of the song is very simple: keep your AI out of my art. I wanted every part of the song to feel unexpected and a little out-of-context. Irrational and human. Like, an AI would have never made these choices. The lyrics are irreverent and over-dramatic, but only time will tell if they’re completely science fiction.” This is something I feel every artist can relate to and I really hope the use of AI starts trending down. This is a super timely song, and one everyone should listen to, if only for the message they are sharing.
