Pierce The Veil Release 'The Jaws Of Life (Deluxe)' Just Days Before Embarking on a Major Headlining Tour

On Friday, May 9th, only a few days before heading out for their world tour, San Diego post-hardcore band Pierce The Veil- consisting of Vic Fuentes (Guitar, Vocals), Jaime Preciado (Bass), and Tony Perry (Guitar)- released a deluxe version of their 2023 album The Jaws of Life. While Pierce the Veil had already solidified themselves as a household name for listeners of their genre, The Jaws of Life became hugely successful beyond fans, debuting #14 on the Billboard Top 200, #2 on the Alternative Chart, and taking the #1 spot on the Top Hard Rock Albums Chart. The LP’s lead single, ‘Emergency Contact’, became the band's first #1 single at Alternative Radio, with tracks like ‘Pass The Nirvana’ receiving the same amount of love from the mainstream.

The Jaws of Life (Deluxe) will have two new tracks, the first being the band’s cover of Radiohead’s ‘Karma Police’, released in 2024. The cover will be extra familiar to fans as it was played throughout their opening sets for Blink-182 and their standout performance on the Lollapalooza stage last summer. While covering Radiohead is ambitious, Pierce The Veil’s version gathers the instrumentation and carries it into this heavier landscape while still holding onto the musical motifs and the charm of the original. Vic Fuentes (Vocals, Guitar) adds, “The song [‘Karma Police’] came about in a really organic way, which made it a really fun experience”.

The second track, ‘Kiss Me Now’, is completely fresh in comparison. It reveals this more vulnerable side of the band, being a song that is something slower than what fans may be used to, but still being able to capture this high-energy intensity that initially got everyone hooked. ‘Kiss Me Now’ was initially written during The Jaws of Life sessions, but due to the band feeling as if the LP had too many slow songs, ‘Kiss Me Now’ was set aside, despite it being a song Fuentes loves.

“ Lyrically, ‘Kiss Me Now’ is a love song to my wife, Danielle, exploring the concept of fear of time passing by too fast. It was inspired by a quote I find true as I move through life. ‘There will never be a perfect time for anything.’ If you spend your life waiting for the perfect moment to do something, it may never come. I tend to overthink things, and this song reminds me to give in more often.” - Vic Fuentes

Today, May 13th, Pierce The Veil will be heading across the globe for their I Can’t Hear You Tour. So far, this tour has been promoted as somewhat of an era’s tour, with the band presumably playing at least one song from each of their albums, showcasing their growth as a band, but also highlighting the diversity that exists within their discography. This tour will honour fans who’ve been around since A Flair For The Dramatic alongside those who just picked up the band during The Jaws of Life era.

The I Can’t Hear You Tour could also represent where Pierce The Veil currently is as a band, with Fuentes explaining, “We are finding a balance between embracing the emo roots that got us here and finding the opportunity to explore new things… I think it’s really about having new experiences because that’s what keeps things fun and exciting.”

Pierce The Veil will kick off their North American leg in Charlotte and continue all the way into October, where they’ll finish off in West Palm Beach. Plenty of the dates have already sold out, including their shows in Madison Square Garden in New York, Budweiser Stage in Toronto, and the Kia Forum in LA.

They’ll then spend the Fall and Winter touring across Europe and Latin America, ending just before the winter Holidays in São Paulo. Joining them for support on select dates across North America are Sleeping With Sirens, Beach Weather, Daisy Grenade, HEALTH, Ecca Vandal, and Like Roses. In Europe, Cavetown, Hot Mulligan, and Crawlers will take the opening stage. You can get tickets for all dates HERE
