It’s official, Montreal's Palomosa Festival is back for its third year, bringing you the most popular and up-and-coming sounds in Electronica, Pop, RnB, Rap, and Latin music. With two different stages jam-packed with artists, this is the perfect way to kick off the summer festival season.
Presented by Fizz and created by Multicolore, Palomosa will run for three days, May 14-16th at Parc Jean Drapeau, a festival ground that is known for hosting major concerts and events like Osheaga and recently, Vans Warped Tour.
Palomosa’s duel stages have been home to plenty of artists popular in the scene today, including Gesaffelstein, Yung Lean, Kali Uchis, Shygirl, Arca, and Rebecca Black. This year, the line-up is just as powerful, pulling names from both the mainstream and underground to curate this year’s bill.
Kicking off the event on Thursday, May 14th, Palomosa is hosting a Block Party. The overarching theme of the day is ‘X-Cost Deejay Academy’. Actually performing on the day, you have Cirque Cosmic, Chippy Nonstop, Tommy Holohan, and of course, X-Coast. This event will be hosted on the festival’s smaller, ‘Banque Nationale’ stage.
Friday is when Palomosa starts to pick up. On the Banque Nationale Stage, you can catch Sineila, one of our personal favourites, DOSS, and Hannah Diamond, before hopping over to the Fizz Stage to see the likes of Sophia Stel, Poison Girlfriend, and Xaviersobased. Friday’s headliner is one of the foundational artists of the electronic genre, MGMT. While the duo may not be performing live, they’ll be bringing their DJ set to Palomosa, closing out the night with their specialty mix.
Saturday, the final day of the festival, is completely stacked with artists on both stages. Down at Scene Banque Notionale, you have the opportunity to see Umru, DJ Smokey, and Dylan Brady, all stand-out artists individually, who have also lent their producing skills to some of your favourite artists. When it comes to the Fizz mainstage, you’re in for an absolute treat. Saturday has the stacked lineup of Femtanyl, Lucy Bedroque, Thaiboy Digital, and to end the fest, all the way from the United Kingdom, Fakemink.
With a lineup like this, I would cancel all your plans for the weekend. Palomosa is calling, and you need to pick up the phone.
