On March 4th, 2026 Nu Emocore band GILT released their newest single “Seattle Day 2” including the corresponding music video and it has pulled in some major interest.
GILT recently signed with Smartpunk Records, giving them a little bit of a boost on social media via Smartpunk’s huge following. But prior to that, GILT and its members, were a local hometown band from Jacksonville Florida who formed in 2017 and has grown to be widely loved by its community. Vocalist, Asha, is the scene queen of every 2000’s emo kid’s heart; from her vibrant purple hair to her platform Demonia’s, she continues to attract new fans with her killer vocals and ability to relate to everyone in the crowd.
At a point in every show they perform, she speaks of her entrance into the scene and just how much being a part of it has impacted her for the better. She also goes on to mention her loving father, who unfortunately passed away a few years ago, stating that he was “her biggest supporter”. Asha’s emotional rawness on stage has a way of pulling the crowd in and making them feel her pain as if sharing a body, if only for a few minutes. The bands current lineup consists of Asha Locke as vocals, Tyler Fieldhouse as vocals/rhythm guitar, Ali Reed as drums, Cameron Subic as lead guitar, and Woody as bass. Since GILT formed in 2017, the band has undergone some member changes but has held strong to their current line up since the bands transition into Smartpunk Records.
GILT’s most popular track to date is “Through Mirrors (I Didn’t Want You as A Mirror” sitting at roughly 50k+ streams collectively but the new single “Seattle Day 2” is quickly surpassing it. “Seattle Day 2” released on March 4th of this year, but prior to that, GILT had not released anything in roughly 4 years and, according to the band, was using that time to hone skills and create a unique, visceral, and genre-blending earworm of a style. “Seattle Day 2” is taking on a heavier tone than GILT’s previous releases, displaying nu-metal bounce with undertones of pain and sorrow put out on display by vocalist Asha Locke. I got the opportunity to speak with Asha and the band about the new release and when asked what the song is about, rhythm guitarist/vocalist Tyler Fieldhouse had this to say.
“‘Seattle Day 2’ references the name of a boss fight with The Rat King in the popular The Last of Us game series. It’s directly about succumbing to your worst self and is intended to feel inescapable. It comes with an accompanying classic core-era music video featuring influencer Kace Valentine in a campy horror subplot as a possessed Youtuber, linking to the album’s overall theme of media oversaturation and escapism.”
The music video released same day and has been getting just as much attention as the single due to its unique aesthetic and fast-paced transitions giving into the nu-emo core fan base.
GILT is set to perform at the official Smartpunk Records South by Southwest showcase at Hotel Vegas on March 17th and then in Orlando, FL on March 21st supporting Capstan.
