Hailing from Cleveland Ohio, Midwinter releases their brand new single "Champagne" on February 4th 2026. Produced, mixed, and mastered by Danny Cullman. Midwinter is a 5-piece Progressive Metalcore band hailing from Cleveland, Ohio. Drawing influences from other modern Metalcore and Progressive Metal bands, they are constantly seeking to achieve the perfect sonic balance of atmospheric, heavy, and progressive. Rooted in personal experience, each song is a story containing passages that host complex, raw emotion conveyed through a poetic ebb and flow of lyrics.
The track begins with a purposeful, thunderous drumbeat, immediately casting a shadowy and intense mood. Billy Toth’s vocals emerge, low and resonant, echoing with a memorable melody quality that perfectly matches the dark instrumental backdrop. As the tempo builds, Toth’s delivery grows in power and expression, drawing the audience deeper into the atmosphere and emotion of the song.
The chorus arrives as a moment of clarity, with Kody Archer’s clean, soaring vocals piercing through the weighty instrumentation, lending a sense of uplift and contrast. Nate Rosenhaus’s drumming remains a driving engine throughout, shifting between forceful rhythms and nuanced fills that keep the energy in constant motion.
Soon after, vivid and electrifying guitar work from Archer and Zac D’Urso explodes into the arrangement, weaving together gritty riffs and melodic accents that add new layers of excitement and intensity. Beneath it all, Max Underwood’s robust bass lines provide a strong foundation, tying the elements together and giving the entire track a sense of cohesion and depth.

"'Champagne' is used as a metaphor to celebrate something that is actually hollow. It symbolizes escapism and temporary euphoria. At its core, the track explores abandonment and betrayal but are masked behind something generally associated with a celebration.... Sonically, we wanted to experiment with contrasting emotions. Similar to the lyrics, certain sections of the track emote feelings of beautiful nostalgia but soon give way to extreme and jarring textures. Blending these together creates a push-pull between optimistic reflection and the pain of loss."
