Mayday Parade, one of the most influential pop punk bands of the early 2000s, will be celebrating a major milestone in 2025: their 20th anniversary as a band. To commemorate this achievement, Mayday Parade will be releasing a three-part album showcasing their renowned emotional songwriting, their most ambitious project to date. The first part of this project, Sweet, is set to release on April 18th 2025, led by the newest single “By The Way”. With a unique sound that blends a melodic piano with classic pop punk instrumentals, along with heartfelt lyrics, “By The Way” encapsulates the legacy that Mayday Parade made for themselves over the past 20 years. Singer Derek Sanders commented: “Being in a band for this long, sometimes you feel like you’re getting it right and sometimes you feel like you’re dancing around what you should be doing. This song feels locked in as a step in the right direction. It’s a song about trying to stay optimistic as the world and everything you know is changing around you. We hope you all enjoy it.”

Recorded with longtime producers Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount (All Time Low, Jimmy Eat World), Sweet and its two subsequent releases will be Mayday Parade's eighth studio album and first LP since their 2021 release What It Means to Fall Apart. It will also be their first self-released record since their 2006 EP Tales Told By Dead Friends

“Being a band for 20 years feels big and we wanted to do something big to match that. Our next release will be a large album split up into three different parts. It feels like a challenge and an exciting step forward for the band. Our goal is to take the things we’ve learned and the ways we’ve grown and apply them towards an ambitious release. We’re incredibly thankful for the opportunity to continue to create music and we cannot wait to share Part 1 - titled ‘Sweet’ - with the world.” Derek Sanders stated.

Throughout the past 20 years, Mayday Parade has made a name for themselves in the emo and pop punk scenes, quickly becoming one of the most iconic bands of the genre in the early 2000s. Their gold-certified 2007 debut album A Lesson In Romantics is considered one of the best and most influential emo albums of all time by Alternative Press. Platinum-selling “Jamie All Over” is one of the most popular emo anthems as well. Since their formation in 2005, they have been featured on the covers of Alternative Press and Rock Sound, as well as being featured in Kerrang, Rolling Stone, and Billboard. They have also headlined Sad Summer Festival twice, and performed at 2024’s When We Were Young festival as well as being announced to play at 2025’s festival.

With the upcoming release of Sweet, Mayday Parade is further cementing themselves as pop punk legends, and emo fans everywhere will have a lot to look forward to with the band’s future. Sweet can be preordered HERE.
