La Dispute, a post-hardcore band hailing out of Grand Rapids, Michigan has finally released their long awaited album, No One Was Driving the Car via Epitaph Records. La Dispute has left their fans hungry for six years, as this is the first full length album since Paranorma (2019). Additionally, this album remains unique as it is produced entirely by the band. Listen to the album here.
The album is inspired by the report of a fatal crash of a self-driving Tesla car, and the psychological thriller by Paul Schrader, First Reformed, No One Was Driving the Car. This sets the tone for the album, an otherworldly numbness. The album brings the listener to question the limits of their self-control, and the looming emptiness we all face at some point in our life. Tracks such as Environmental Catastrophe Film truly embody the emotional chaotic spirit of La Dispute.
