When hearing the name of the globally adored singer-songwriter, Alice Phoebe Lou, a few things may come to mind. Maybe it’s her hit songs ‘Witches’ and ‘Open My Door’, or maybe you recognize her as the heavenly voice that opened for Clairos Charm Tour in the Fall and Winter of 2024. Either way, Lou is giving us something new to remember her by with the release of her newest single You and I.
You and I is described as a confession, prayer, and declaration wrapped up in this perfect bow of Lou’s delicate looping handwriting. It focuses on these feelings of longing and surrendering in love, with Lou going on to say, “It’s about telling one another what our needs are so we can be there for each other in a deeper, more fundamental way.” With the simple traces of guitar strings, a light cast of piano, and Lou’s light ethereal vocals, You and I tethers listeners to what fuels the heart, joining Lou on this wandering through a landscape of memories and emotions.
The release of You and I marks a new beginning for Lou, as this is her first-ever self-produced track to hit streaming. She had this to share about the substance behind You and I alongside the plans for future projects of a similar nature:
“After five band records, I’ve opened my treasure chest of personal storytelling songs that I’ve built up over a decade. Songs that didn’t make it into other albums, some songs I never thought would see the light of day. I am embarking on the brave and thrilling journey of recording these songs as they are, with love and playfulness, simple and all my own. Leaning into imperfection and taking inspiration from some of my biggest influences who have made timeless folk acoustic albums.”

Earlier within You and I’s release week, Lou and Nettwerk Music Group announced a new partnership. Through this collaboration, Lou will be able to maintain her passion for the DIY culture and spirit she picked up during her days as a busker, while having the support of a strong and solid team to help Lou spread her music in new ways across the world.
To close off her busy week, Lou played three sold-out shows in LA alongside performing at Red Rocks opening for Remi Wolf, capturing even more hearts and further amplifying her already deeply emotional connection with audiences. The momentum of Alice Phoebe Lou does not seem to be slowing anytime soon, and even though she's been in the scene for a while, her career is just taking off.
