IN HER OWN WORDS Release New EP "Left In The Dark"


On November 15th, LA-based pop punk band In Her Own Words released their newest EP “Left In The Dark” via Thriller Records. The EP showcases In Her Own Word’s ability to capture raw emotion through their songwriting, focusing on the emotional rollercoaster of love, heartbreak, and desire. Their standout track “Practice Makes Perfect” encapsulates this as it details the chaos that can come with modern relationships.


“Left In The Dark” touches upon the struggles of love and heartbreak that can be universally relatable, and In Her Own Words has consistently written about these themes throughout their career with intense honesty. Vocalist Joey Fleming has said about the EP: “The album captures the emotional confusion of navigating complex relationships, highlighting themes of heartbreak, longing, and the struggle to let go. Each song reflects a cycle of attachment and regret, exploring moments of vulnerability and the difficulty of moving on from someone who continues to haunt their thoughts. Ultimately, it portrays the tension between desire and the painful realization that love can be both intoxicating and destructive.”

The EP’s standout track, “Practice Makes Perfect”, features an honest look on the exhaustion that comes with toxic relationships, and how much of a struggle it can be to break free from them. Set to the band’s signature pop punk style, the song details a constant cycle of emotional turmoil and apologies that keep reeling the person back into the toxicity. Despite knowing that they should leave, they find themselves comfortable in the familiarity of the pain, making it more difficult for them to break free. 


On the song, Joey Fleming shared: “This song is about grappling with a toxic relationship, acknowledging the cycle of apologies and emotional turmoil that keeps pulling them back in. Despite the desire to break free, they find themselves caught between moving on and the familiarity of pain.”


With “Left In The Dark”, In Her Own Words solidified their status as an influential pop punk band of the modern day, giving fans a soundtrack that emphasizes resilience in the face of hardship and challenges within relationships.
