I Prevail’s album release show for Violent Nature was exactly how an album release show should be: loud, violent, and thrumming with energy throughout the entire venue. The packed lineup only set the tone for the night, with openers My Ticket Home and We Came As Romans.
At this album release show, I Prevail gave their fans a unique experience by performing in the intimate Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac, Michigan, which has a capacity of around one thousand people. They chose this venue, as they are native to Southfield, Michigan. This is exciting because I Prevail usually performs at large venues, such as amphitheaters and arenas.
The night started off with an exclusive listening party for VIP attendees to listen to the album prior to its release. Throughout this enthralling forty minutes, fans listened to Violent Nature in entirety, with a cameo from vocalist Eric Vanlerberghe.
Musically Violent Nature is, in my opinion, I Prevail’s best album. Tracks such as God and Violet Nature are perfect for fans of heavier music that remains reminiscent of cult-classics such as Bow Down, and Body Bag. Whereas songs such as Annihilate Me, Rain, Into Hell, and Synthetic Soul are perfect for die-hard fans looking for a sing-along. Being able to have the opportunity to listen to this album in full only prepared fans for the brutal experience soon to come. Additionally, listening parties are not something that many artists offer, making this only more unique.
Opening the concert with a bang, My Ticket Home performed a merciless set consisting of a lot of songs on their new album Strangers Only. This set the tone for the rest of the night splendidly. Furthermore, this was one of My Ticket Home’s first shows since their ten-year hiatus.
Their co-headliner was modern metalcore band, We Came As Romans. This set reminded everyone why they are a mainstay in the metalcore scene, bringing an insane amount of energy to the crowd. We Came As Romans complements I Prevail perfectly, both being influential bands within metalcore. Both openers set the tone and worked the crowd for the headliner, My Ticket Home with a post-hardcore sound, and We Came As Romans with their pummeling riffs and melodic choruses.
Onstage, I Prevail opened with their hit song, Bow Down, and transitioned into some music off of their new album, such as Into Hell, and Violent Nature. On top of that, the tech- team came well prepared for this set, with an excellent sound and light system. The crowd interaction throughout this show was immensely genuine, displaying the gratitude that they have to their fans. The energy was exquisite, crowd surfers flew from every corner of the room, while the mosh pit ravaged the energy.
Overall, the Violent Nature album release show was one that will not be forgotten in metal history and amongst their fans. This release show proved that this album was made to perform. Hopefully we can expect a tour from I Prevail in support of this new album!
